[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

So I have the same problem as ebarr727 as in adb does not show any devices pluged in when I attempt to do the market part. Not having the market is, as you can imagine, driving me crazy. I used both the nook color usb cable and one I had for my vibrant, neither help. Before suggesting I tried first on win7 x64 and second on 7 x86. I tested my vibrant and adb shows it just fine when I have it set to debug mode.

Please help! (Oh and like him the device shows just fine when I take out my sd card and reboot into stock nook android).

Just a note, if you get the "Google Talk Authentication Failed" error when you try to go into your market for the first time.

Go to settings, applications, manage applications, and go the all tab, find Google Services Framework. Force stop and clear data.

Go back to the all apps list, and find market and clear cache.

You should be able to get into market then. I don't know if anyone else has had an issue with this, I just noticed that I got it each time I've set up a Honeycomb version on my SD card.

I wouldn't have know how to fix it, but I had a similar problem once with my droid x.

I hope this helps.

I re-burned v03 to my card and no longer am getting the password prompt that I get on v04. Also tried the fix that was posted elsewhere when on v04 and still didnt work.

Can you post v3 somewhere for me to download from? I would really appreciate it!

sorry for noob question, but

how is everyone liking the HoneyComb So far? does everything work, like marketplace and apps?

cause i feel like will the Nook Color ever become a fully working Android tablet cause sometimes i hear some apps or some technical stuff aren't working. makes me want to reconsider selling it and just get a real android tablet instead

Its working fine, I like it with a few bugs. It is understandable because it came from the sdk preview. once the source for honeycomb is release it will get way better.

BTW if you are going to sell it, let me know. I would like to buy another.

Does anyone have v4 working on a Kingmax 16GB Class 10? I'm getting asked for a password on lockscreen.

I had the same problem with my class 10 sd. I change to a class 4 and it didn't boot, it got stuck on the android screen. I found a class 2 8Gb and it work, sometime slowly. My advice try to find different sd cards with different classes 2,4, or 6 and see what works with your Nook.

big thanks sir, but now a new question that I have the market running: How come a lot of apps are not showing up when you do a search? Angry birds seasons shows, but not the original, package buddy, evernote, etc. I dont know if its just me, my device, if I set it it wrong or if this is normal and is affecting everyone.

error: device not found

I'm new to this; but I've also read all 54 pages of comments and I didn't find a solution that worked... Hopefully someone has a brilliant solution! :-!

The image loads fine and there were no problems setting that up, but when I try to install the Market apps, I encounter this:

I enter: adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /system and get this response:

* daemon not running. Starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found

I've tried this on Windows 7 and XP with the same results. I've re-imaged the SD card, taken out the card and re-booted the NC, rebooted my computer. I've even uninstalled the drivers and let them re-install. I get one go at it with the response listed above and all subsequent attempts just say: device not found.

I'm very new to the command line too, but I copied it straight from the post and ran it with a Shift+Right Click on the platform-tools folder after inserting the two .apk files in that folder.

Any suggestions? I could really use the help. Honeycomb is AWESOME, but the Market is pretty essential.

Thanks!

I hope v5 fixes the issue with class 10 cards. v3 worked ok with the Kingmax card but was to unresponsive towards the edges. I guess ill wait till v5 and hopefully its fixed.

please!

i have read every post. i have googled endlessly. watched a blurry video. i haven't spent this much time researching since owning the origina l storm.

i installed hc on to the sd card. it boots up fine. i moved the two files that i downloaded to the platform-tools folder. i know it has to be something stupid. but this is what i type into terminal and it i can't get it to remount, find the device or do whatever it is supposed to do. what am i doing wrong?! please help. thanks in advance

JC:~ jc$ /android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools/adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /system

Im not an expert, but I think not that many apps are compatible with hc, and others are probably are protected apps. I wonder if we copy the apps from our phones and then push them like with we did with the Vending(market)apk. Would that solve the problem? are you willing to try that method?

Ok just to let everyone know. I have a 8GB Sandisk class 4 that works good, slow but good. I made a ton of changes to the HC OS and downloaded a lot of apps got it almost like I want. Even have My Doc's to go working good opening excel and word doc's.

So, I just went and bought another 8GB Patriot class 10 and got it to boot just fine with the downloaded image on it only to prove to me this new disc will be good and get past the dreaded password.

After that I went and used a partitioning software "EASEUS" that I purchased and copied all of my 8GB Sandisk class 4 to my new Patriot 8GB class 10 bit by bit. Made exact copies with the software. Now I have a back up. AND when I boot from the class 10? it is noticeably faster. Maybe not like installing to internals but better. Next for me is just that. So I have some reading to do now.

Also, about the sd cards once image is on them. when you see the card in EASEUS, you see it to have 4 partitions. the last one at the end I always expand till the end to gain space on my 8GB card. The image applied to the card only takes ruffly the first 4gb's of space. Works great.

You have the same problem I did, the adb is not finding your device thats why you are not able to push the market. hence the error device not found

try this link

ADB Over USB - nookDevs

it will set up all the drivers and adb. if you have more questions let me know.

if you are getting device not found it means drivers and adb is not set up correctly.

follow the instructions in the link,

ADB Over USB - nookDevs

it solve my problem with the error device not found

im on a mac and don't think the usb drivers applies to mac

that guide is only for windows.

I'm sure if you google it, you would be able to find out how to get the drivers on a mac. thats the reason why you are getting the error device not found, your computer doesn't have the right drivers.

yeah well I answered my own question it seems. I went to http://market.android.com on my desktop and found a lot of what I wanted to install was either 'not compatible' (even though it probably will run) or like you said protected. Thinking more about it this is a preview release and no retail HC devices are out, cant expect every app in the market to be flagged to install on HC.

Cant wait to see how fast this will get when people get a proper update.zip or ODIN,etc. image with the HC google experience apps bundled in when the entire OS is posted to ASOP (plus the 1.1ghz overclock and undervolt). Only complaint so far is Most youtube vids dont work, I think because youtube is trying to use the new renderscript APIs present, and that might be broke in this preview.
