I would then try running the checksum on the cab file to see if it is the same.

Unzip the fsum utility and place fsum.exe in the KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2 folder

Then run fsum from a command prompt.
start menu->run
cmd.exe
c:
cd \KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2
fsum *.cab

as far as i can tell its good I am at a loss of what to do right now i have no clue

C:\>cd \KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2

C:\KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2>fsum *.cab

Ok, your cab file is correct. Trying to figure out why it isn't working for you.

Try this, for KP500 enter

Model #: LS670
Cab File: LS670ZV9.cab
Version: LS670ZV9_20

If that doesn't work try

Model #: LS670
Cab File: LS670ZV9.cab
Version: LS670ZV9

Hmm, I just noticed your cab file is named

LS670ZV9.cab.cab

It should be named

LS670ZV9.cab

Try renaming it, and rerun fsum to make sure it took the change. Sometimes windows hides file extensions, making it confusing what is the actual name being used.

hmmm ok it was working i had service again but the lg program gave me the same error again and i am without service again

ok i was curious about that myself i will change that real quick, but on my file when i renamed it earlier there is only one .cab not sure why it has two on the fsum

I think it is because windows is hiding filename extensions, so even though you see one .cab extension, there is another one hidden.

In your command prompt type
c:
cd \KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2
dir *.cab

If the file is named LS670ZV9.cab.cab

then type in the command prompt
ren LS670ZV9.cab.cab LS670ZV9.cab
dir *.cab

Is there still a folder named KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2 in your drive C?

I think you are actually making progress. The file naming problem could easily explain the file extraction error. After you get past that, the utility should be ready to start flashing.

Were you able to rename the cab file to get rid of the double .cab.cab extension? That I think is the piece that would allow you to progress.

ok i got it running i did a test it was cab cab so i typed in what you told me to and the end result is at the bottom with a single cab lemme know what you think

Excellent, you can now try the KP500 utility again.

Model: LS670
cab File: LS670ZV9.cab
Version: LS670ZV9_20

ok so it went through the whole process and loaded phone is working now to move on the the next stage you are a life saver thought i would be without my phone for work tomorrow thanks now is there anything i should watch for as far as updates that want to install?

What are you trying to accomplish?

If you are happy with V9, then you can stop here, but you'll get nagged for updates (don't accept OTA updates)

If you want VC but still want to root, then you'll need to do a little more work and restore the V9 Recovery partition. Once you've done that, you can use the LG Software Updater tool to upgrade to VC. After that you'll have a VC system with V9 Recovery partition. You won't get bugged about updates and you can root at a future date if you still desire.
