i've followed every step just as it's written out and when i try to rename that ls670zv9.cab file the windows terminal doesnt find it

so yeah i put in that code and it didn't work... i want to get past this permission denied thing
Are you booted into recovery or booted into android?

You need to be booted into recovery or you will get the permission denied.

Please post the output of step (h) - all 4 commands you entered.

My suspicion is you placed the cab file in the wrong folder.

market problem

Hi, I've been thinking about rooting my opti/s so I updated on the lg site. Update seemed ok but the screen is black on boot 'til I apply a couple quick presses to the power button. The main issue is the market is gone. If I successfully root the phone will I be able to install the market, and without market before root, can it even be rooted?
I did the update because my phone has damaged two sd cards, otherwise I would have rooted without updating. Any opinions or help with this is appreciated.
Thanks, v.

You can root w/o market, just copy the SuperUser.apk file into /system/app (in addition to copying "su" into /system/bin)

You could try backup, then wipe data/cache to see if market comes back.

nothings working pleases give me info or a video, can you just post a video how you did it...

Maybe someone else has the resources to do that.

If you'd like help in the mean time, could you post the output of:
/system/bin/ls -l /sdcard
/system/bin/mount

You said something about it not producing output, but you'd try again after school.

Did you type it within your adb shell session?

You appear to be a bit frustrated but we need to ask questions to see what your problem is or we won't be able to offer suggestions.

alright yes i did it on the adb shell and it didn't do anything

Could you cut and paste the adb shell session so I can see what it is doing. If you can't even perform a simple directory listing, then something is wrong with the environment and that could be preventing you from making progress.

Start with "adb shell" and everything that goes after it.

In this particular run, you were never rebooted into recovery because the "adb reboot recovery" command failed ("error: closed")

This explains why you kept getting permission denied running rage.

Do this
Power down phone
Power + Vol- + Home (hold for 3 secs)

You should be booted into recovery. It will be a very minimal screen with just 4 options written in text.

You need to select the one that includes "update.zip"

Assuming you earlier placed the V8-V9 update.zip on your sdcard, it should give you a long error message.

At this point you can continue from step (6)

I'm sorry, I just looked at your output closer. It seems you already have root and are running a custom rom. Why are you running rage again?
