Ok so im not sure if this is the right place to post this but ill give it a shot. I was running sc 2.6, has the patch installed as well. I was running midnight blue theme, then flashed the gingerbread theme. I then decided i wanted something else so i flashed the VA green theme. Before flashing all of these i did cache wipes and dalvic cache wipes. I did a nandroid backup of my gingerbread theme and wanted to flash back to that. I did that and got the force close loop of hell. I went back into recover did a data wipe factory reset this time, wiped all the caches, and tried running any flashing any theme i could but i am not getting past the boot animations now. Any help would be much appreciated.

This has been a problem with themes on EB01. I was successfully able to put together four nandroid backups with out any problems until I tried to restore the nandroid backups. That 's when I got caught in a force close loop at the boot animation. I never could figure out a solution. EB01 is just not playing well with themes. It is after all a leaked version that Samsung and Verizon has not released, probably because of all the bugs we are running into.

Just realized i don't have cwm 3x, i thought i had flashed it in odin but apparently i didnt.. i have cwm 2.5x

what do you suggest i do to get out of this?

Boot back into recovery by holding the volume up, volume down, and power buttons until you see the samsung logo flash for the second time, then let go of all three buttons. Wipe cache, wipe dalvik, install just the superclean 2.6 and reboot phone. Many of us have found if you flash the rom, reboot your phone to let the ROM completely load, bot back into recovery and flash whatever theme and whatever else you want then reboot phone you get fewer force close issues. And don't do any nandroid backups. For some reason that's where a lot of people have been running into force close problems. Also when you want to switch themes, unless you know how deep the theme is customized it seems to be a better practice of doing exactly what I described above. Flash the rom separately, reboot phone, boot back to recovery and flash everything else. If the first theme you flashed has deeper customization than the one you want to flash to, remnants of the first one may be left over and cause the fc issues. Flashing just the ROM between wipes away the first theme.

hmmm i just tried that, and its still not going past the honeycomb boot animation...it vibrates once, and then twice really fast, the same way it does when it force closes, but its not getting past the boot animation screen.

were you running 2.4 voodoo?

yes i was

Copy your first post describing your problem and post it in Gunnermike's voodoo thread. I have a feeling it may be a voodoo related issue, and you will get better help over there. This is why it is recommended beginning rooters stay away from voodoo. It is easier to do something wrong and end up in a force close loop on voodoo, and there are fewer people using voodoo, therefore fewer people to help you when you run into a problem.

Sharky,

I dont know why but I find myself in this simular situation lol. I flashed about 3 themes today, before a flashed the first one I made a nandroid(mistake maybe) after the 3 theme I wanted to flash another and got stuck in a boot loop. I guess i forgot about having to wipe the caches and to reflash the rom in between themes. I was able to restore to the nandroid back up each time to get out of the loop and the phone would boot up just fine but I kept making the mistake of try to flash more stuff lol. thank god I ran into your post just now cuz it was driving me nuts! I was able to reflash 2.7.1nv w/o any issues or boot loop. Now I know better lol. Should I now delete that nandroid? oh and I finally ended up on the theme I wanted thanks to your pointers haha.

Going to respond for Landshark: I think we both have been down this road with multiple theme flashes ending in a; force close, lost contacts, or a bootloop scenario.. I had to go back to the base ROM as well. I have stayed away from some of the themes that have causes this to happen..... my preference. The more complicated or feature packed themes appear to be creating this situation, and causing some other issues. - Chris3D eluded to this in a post yesterday.

I have also deleted the nandroids that couldn't/wouldn't restore. I ended in the same bootloop scenario.. Flashed the base ROM and a theme in the same flash session - ended in a bootloop scenario...

I have started with a fresh base to flash themes on. Each time I make a sequential flash I back up the one previous.
The reasons for these bootloops and odd theme issues appears to be with the way the framework and jar files are interacting with the theme.

There is a poster in XDA who has claimed to resolved the problem by flashing a zip he made to correct the framework and jar files.. he is running 2.6 and his success has not be duplicated.

I don't normally even use themes but I since I was bored of not flashing anything I gave a few a try. I had read these issues before but forgot all about it

I just flashed NitroDark 1.2vm... I flashed via CWM orange and did not attempt to flash with red.

You can get Clockwork Mod version 3.0.0.8 (Orange) from ROM Manager... Free app from the market. Download/Install ROM Manager, Open and Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery, Select your phone 'Fascinate' and let it do its work.

This will put the 'update.zip' file (version 3.0.0.8) Orange on your sdcard.

When you boot into recovery it will take you to either blue/red - use the install:update.zip from sdcard - This will take you to the orange (3.0.0.8) recovery..

Operate orange version just like any other version. If you get an error "script out of date or not supported" the zip you are trying to install does not contain the Edify script.

ok thanks do i need to delete red version from my sd before using the orange

I fixed my problem by flashing the base rom and theme i wanted, and then wiping cache and dalvic cache. At first, i was wiping cache and dalvic cache and then flashing the base rom and still getting stuck in a force close loop. I dont know if it makes a difference that i cleared the cache after i flashed the rom, but it worked for me.

Worked for but in reverse order from yours. Wiped caches, flashed base rom, reboot, flashed theme
