How to Voodoo ***Updated 27 Mar 2011***KERNEL BUILT FROM SOURCE/SOUND/UNDERVOLTED

Gunnermike53 is the man

a BIG OL' shout out to the Gunner - i think i bricked my phone over the weekend (i was so psyched!) and then i slapped it upside the head, showed it who's boss, and did the voodoo tap dance all up in it and now im sporting EXT4 baby! Not that proprietary bullpucky malarkey horseshat gobblegook!! EFF THAT!

at least i hoped i bricked it. i decided there should be no reason why i have to go back to DL09 or whatever just to convert the filesystem (aka lagfix), so i just flashed the old red cwm and then flashed the voodoo sc rom, then did the lagfix. it didnt work. :)

upon rebootion, the phone was stuck on the evil corporate SAMSUNG logo. so that means it was bricked, right? a little maybe? please? :p

so then i got up in my phone's face, reflashed Old Red, flashed the voodoo Rom again, then tried the file system conversion (aka lagfix) and whaddyaknow: got some sweet-talking robot beotch talkin to me. BOOYA! :D GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY!

In my mind, even more important than the theoretical performance/design efficiency difference (well, ok, maybe not more but AS important...uh, just about), is the PRINCIPLE of the thing.

RFS=proprietary=APPLE

(yeah, i went there. i said it.)

lol. you crack me up. im glad you got it goin. i updated the op a couple of days ago. there is the link to the new new cwm red. its good for 2.2 and voodoo. i also said you could use whatever rom and kernel you wanted. i totoaly agree on the apple thing. my phone may not actually be faster, but i feel smarter. :D

I managed to get SuperClean 2.2 voodoo up and running WITHOUT Bricking. Was quite surprised seems how i have done it like four times since i started flashing different ROMS. Thanks for the walk through though.

Phone definitely seems to have a little more spark to it, and i know that my battery life has been better with it, may just be in my case, but i took it off the charger Sunday at 6:30 and its not Monday at 2:14 and im at 27 percent with mild use

I'm running superclean 2.2 voodoo, and every time I restart my phone, my settings return to default. All the way to having to reset my security pin to get my work email to work. Any ideas? I may have just lost my backup assistant contacts cause of it. It's super frustrating. Please advise.

Also (if it matters) when I went into Clockwork just now it showed...

Clockwork currently: disabled
next reboot: enabled

Is that what it's supposed to say? Thanks in advance.

/system lagfix?

Is it necessary to enable this option? it looks like it's off, i have the regular lagfix enabled, but was wondering what this was.

This says 2.1 and 2.2 is that all it works for right now - will not work on 2.3 or 2.4 superclean? Thanks in advance.

Why is the lazy root necessary? If you plan on running a rom that's already rooted, dots it really need to be done where it says to do it? Thanks in advance.

its just a place to start. you dont have to. i just wanted to give my step by step. as long as you have the right cwm you can just flash the kernel and do the lag fix.

so i was getting android.process.acore fc's when trying to delete a contact. i tried a factory reset and cache wipe, and i can't get passed the galaxy boot screen? flashed into red recovery, and disabled lag fix, guess i'm just going to flash back to dl01, and then back to eb01..without voodoo, at least until i figure out what on earth i did.

Ok so i messed something up and need some help. Im pretty sure i flashed a non-voodoo kernel over my voodoo one. And i followed the steps in the directions you gave on how to fix it, however im still getting stuck on the samsung screen. I power off my phone and get the blue CWM, i then press apply update.zip to get into red CWM. I go down to voodoo and press disable lagfix, i then go back and reboot however im still getting stuck on the samsung logo...any ideas?

And i was running superclean 2.4 before all of this happened.

If I'm voodood right now can I use odin and install a eb01.tar file from the leak post and not brick from it? I see posts about not flashing non voodoo over voodoo, but with cwm. Not odin and tar files

ok but fore you get crazy flash a theme. one that modifies the contacts list like midnight. see what happens. you may not have done anything. sometimes stupid crap happens to your phone. and many times something as simple as flashing a theme will fixit.

sounds like you might have the wrong cwm.

first lets try flashing another voodoo kernel. if you have the superclean voodoo rom you can just reflash that rom.

start there and let me know what happens.

NO!!!

you must still disable lag fix. if you try and take short cuts with voodoo lady android will get pissed and brick your phone!!!!

you can do what you are talking about with the di01 all in one. thats it.
