Huge opportunity for LG

For sure, we need more excellent LG phones before there's a huge turnaround or even the start of a huge turnaround. Hopefully more sales and more brand awareness will happen for LG as far as smartphones are concerned.

Morty....where have you been?

Well here's to hoping the V30 is an excellent phone

LG has a good shot. As much as everyone else loves the Note series, $1000 for a phone is really pushing it. With a $700-800 price tag for the V30, they could win people over. Honestly, most people don't even use the S Pen. Note is popular because of the beloved Note 4 and previous Note versions, nobody really knows the V series at all, or would consider getting an LG phone. It's the battle of the beautiful phones now, we'll see.

Here we go again.... Better device for who? You can't speak for everyone...you don't get to decide for everyone... You just don't . Most people don't want an S pen just like most people dont want the LG features you claim nobody wants. When the Note 7 met a premature death, many jumped to another phone besides Samsung and many are happy. Some will go back of course... Its inevitable, but some are waiting for the V30 as well as the Pixel 2 as well as the iPhone 8 and a few others not worth mentioning. If someone is stuck on the Spen then they have no options, but those that aren't have many alternatives.
First off, the majority of consumers only see Galaxy or iPhone. Whether either phone is better is subjective. If I had all the money in the world, I would buy both lol

I think the V30 will be a great phone just not one I will be buying. I thought the V20 was a nice step up from the V10. In terms of the build quality I preferred the more rugged feel of the V10 with those steel rail sides but I thought LG did a nice job with the V20 in making an all metal phone while keeping the battery removable.

With the V30 I think LG is completely abandoning alot of what made the V series unique, in terms of both design and features. I'm sure the camera and audio with the quad-DAC will still be great but it seems like with the design of the phone they're trying to be more like Samsung and Apple instead of trying to create something that stands out on its own. And from a business standpoint I understand why they're taking this approach. I think the OLED display and water resistance are both welcome additions to the V series but removal of the second screen, a removable battery, and IR are things that made the V series phone stand out from the competition. Also not really sure about the drop resistance going to an all glass/metal build but I'm sure it won't be nearly as durable as the V10 or V20.

I hope the V30 does well for LG, I just wish it wasn't such a big departure from the previous models because I would have definitely considered it over the Note 8.
They want to sell like Samsung and Apple so why not?

Mod Note

Cleaned some posts. Let's keep it on topic (LG). If you want to debate Samsung stuff being better then Google -- by all means go ahead but please take it to the appropriate forum.

Thanks!

Haha! It's too big for me! But it does look awesome!

Gotta love them small bezels

Lgv30 5.96 x 2.96 x 0.29 inches151.4 x 75.2 x 7.4 mmoz (0 g)

Lgg6 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm (5.86 x 2.83 x 0.31 in)

Htc u11 153.9 x 75.9 x 7.9 mm ( 6.06 x 2.99 x 0.31 in). Weight, 169 g (5.96 oz).*

But not high quality like the ones that blew up last year though? Everybody makes mistakes and to brush one under the rug and point to bootloop issues which wasn't a serious health risk is unfair. As high quality as Samsung makes no one is above the reality that things do happen.

All phones have issues. My daughters 6s had a defective screen within the first few months and a defective charging port in just under 2 years. The screen cracked from a light drop while in a care. I never had a Motorola or LG break. Motorola dropped numerous times without a case. Never had a charging port go bad. Samsung has plenty of issues including spontaneous camera lens breakage issues. Apple does have a great business model when it comes to customer service. You just can't beat it.
As far as build quality .
Glass? Give me a break.

I agree. Like the Famous touch Ic problem for the iPhone 6 and 6s series. How often have customers experienced laggy or self touch on their lcd due to their touch ic malfunctioning

For me, the V30 is what the G6 should of been. I said this once before and I'll say it a million more times until LG and HTC gets it through their head, LG being LG, screwed up again.

The G6 could of been a huge seller if they released it with 64G instead of 32G of storage. The should of also of released it with the quad DAC but decided that the U.S didn't want/need it.

Don't get me started on the dumbest decision on LG's part, releasing it with the SD 821 instead waiting and using the SD 835. These 3 stupid decision cost LG alot of money and their revenue showed it.

I'll give the V30 a try since I have JoD but I'm hoping LG isn't gonna be LG again. So far this year, I've seen LG being LG with the G6 and HTC being HTC with the HTC U11 and U Ultra. Neither of those 2 phones even made a dent in the S8 sales.

I really hope LG picks up their game as I have zero faith in HTC ever being relevant ever again. LG is very close to being just like HTC.

32 GB is really pathetic however some people don't use it all up. The DAC was really intended for the V series. The 835 wasn't available because Samsung hoarded them.

In addition, most of their customers for the G6 couldn't give two if the phone had an 821 or an 835 or an 80gazillion. They just buy phones because they look nice and the sales rep said "buy this." We people who care about what hardware a phone has are in the minority. Unless a ton more people start caring about the actual specs of the phone (and start coming onto Android/phone boards), the companies will still produce products such as the G6 that don't "have our approval."

I went through 2 G3s in only a few months because the screen blacked out in the first and then I couldn't retain cell signal reception in the 2nd. Haven't had a problem with the V20 so far.
