I woke up and omg!

does that prevent calls from coming in or going out?

I dont think it effected calls, I know there were settings on the X that you could adjust to your needs, I set the time from 11pm t 7am, it would stop all syncing but I am pretty sure the phone would ring, if you turned the screen on it would perform a sync of everything that was off.

I do not see that feature on this phone

Either this guy is trolling or he really has something wrong with his phone. My tbolt was at 50% when I went to bed at 1am exactly. I just picked it up off the night stand at 10am exactly and it only dropped tp 45% that's a 5% drop in 9 hours of standby.

I even forgot to turn wifi on which usually saves my battery some at home. I have facebook and all that crap set up to sync every 3 hours. I use launcher pro and none of the sense things that would want to sync.
So your data don't sync at night? and what exactly is launcher pro? I think my problem is the background data that syncs.

Strange. Mine went down 20% in standby on my first night sleeping (~6 hours) but only went down 10% last night (~7 hours). I've been trying to drain my battery to around 15% before plugging it back in, unless I'm going to be away from my charger for a while. I don't know if that helps, but I've always heard it helps condition the battery.

Plus I've read in multiple places that smartphone batteries tend to get better after a couple weeks of use. Try changing your sync settings, or maybe restart your phone before bed next time to minimize the use of unnecessary programs while you sleep.

As far as virus scanners go, think about how a virus scanner acts on your computer: it uses resources. The same will be the case on a phone but worse with a battery.

I use Friendstream. That's not the probem. I can't see an included Live Wallpaper doing this. I'm really looking for that "rogue" program that would jump out at me and say "I'M EATING LOVY'S BATTERY AS A LATE NIGHT SNACK!!" and I'm not seeing it. At this point, I'm starting to think it's something with either the phone or the battery. On the other hand, we now have two users reporting the problem.

Are you in a 3G or 4G area? If you are on the borderline, or if you have a weak signal, the phone polling the network and going in and out of 3G or 4G could do this. I don't recall if you said you had wifi on. I leave wifi on all the time. It is Much more battery efficient than mobile data.
I'm in a 4G area (strong) never goes to 3G and if I turn wifi on it will kick the 4G off?

I don't turn my phone off while charging, do you think that could be the problem? Also I change sync to every 2 hours, shoud I make it every 4?

I can't claim to know anything about the phone(OS), but i limit the amount of apps i have installed. All of the social apps i don't use because i'm not much of a social person. After playing with my phone all day thursday, i took if off charge before i went to bed and i had 85% battery remaining when i got up the next morning. So, not bad.

There's an app called Auto Airplane that you can set to turn off the radio while you're asleep. Prevents all our apps from poling the internet all night. really saves battery.

That sounds like the first app I'm going to download after I pick up my phone today.

Similar Issue

I had a similar issue this morning. Went to sleep with it fully charged, woke up 7 hrs later and was down to just 15% battery. I'm in a fairly good 4G area. Its odd because during the day, the phone lasted from 11am until 9pm with light/moderate use, but for 7 hours of absolutely no use, the battery gets drained. The only thing in the background was:

-Gmail sync
-Backup Assistant (anyone know how to turn that off and set it to manual backups only?)
-Google Location Services

I'm not using any of the HTC Friend streaming things, nor do I have any other email boxes setup. BTW, does anyone know if its better for battery usage to leave WIFI on all night or let it stay on 4G? Tonight, I'm going to test whats sucking up the battery by doing a restart to reset the usage stats before I sleep then checking the Battery Use information in the morning.

Wifi will take precedence over 4G. That said, whenever you leave range of a known wifi network (driving a block from your house, for instance) the wifi signal will drop and 4G will take over. Likewise, when you return home, the wifi will connect again. I got over 16hrs on one charge yesterday, and that was with some pretty heavy usage.

Check out Ring Scheduler - Android app on AppBrain... it's a great app that you can schedule your device to go into Airplane mode at night, and then wake up at a specific time so you can get all your emails in the morning before you leave for work... I really like this app.
Im going to try that but IDK whats going on I had a full charge before I went to bed so I took it off the charger woke up this morning phone dead as if it was never charged. I think it is things that are running not only while Im sleep but awake also. I don't notice it in the day time because my phone be on the charger. I would hate to give this phone up but wow how do I use a dead phone smh

Same thing happened to me, was almost late for work this morning because alarm didn't go off because phone was dead. The first night, I charged over night, but unplugged at 5:30 a.m., and battery made it through until 6:00 P.M. Last night it was 78% charged, and totally dead in the morning. Something isn't right since I only have a few things syncing and I used same settings on my DINC. I restarted phone and am charging up now, completely not normal. I am hoping this was a freak occurrence.

hmmm.. I'm beginning to think that if we take our phones off the charger before we go to bed and it's fully charged it doesn't matter as long as we leave the phone on it will die because things are syncing etc in the Background but if we leave our phone charging while we sleep obviously it will be charged when we wake up. This is crazy, I thought if a phone states its charged then it's charged didn't think I had to come up with theories. Sorry sarcasm because IM SO MADDD! :(

Today is the first time I actually shut my phone completely down, so Im going to see what happens. It turned off my few apps that were running but wow this phone has stupid stuff running that we can't even delete.

That's not true. I left min eoff last night, becuase i am conditioning mine. Waiting til it's lower before bump charging it, to get max performance.

It is some program you didn't list
Bad battery
Or deffective unit

100 down to dead overnight is not normal...

The only things I installed were bakery story, restaurant story, swype, Gtunes, angry birds, facebook and soundhound. the rest are built in

I purposely took mine out the charger because it stated it was fully charged, but I didn't turn the phone off, should I have turned it off? Im new to these phones coming from Iphone4

Since I don't know what apps you have running I'll just go through some of the apps that come to mind... HTC Sense's Clock/Weather app, check how often it is set to refresh your weather... Facebook or HTC's FriendStream, check how often your refresh is set on that - personally I turn it off and only refresh when I open it... GPS, is it on or off... Weatherbug, if you have it you might want to check how often it is set to refresh... there are a LOT of apps that will refresh themselves every hour or so, unless you change the defaults.

The airplane mode at night will help a lot... but changing some of these settings will help even more.

Your phone can sit in a charger 16 hours a day if you want... you don't have to take it off the charger even though it has a green light saying it is fully charged... it will not hurt the battery.
