ICS 4.0.4 leak

" I uninstalled safestrap, flashed the stock preinstall image (safestrap overwrites it and the ICS install looks for it) with fastboot"

How did you flash the preinstall image? What steps did you take? Is there a file you put on your SD card?

I LOVE this leak. Only issue I am having is my WIFI is turning on by itself... Ill turn it off and then it will turn itself back on.

Any ideas?

You have to flash it with fastboot or moto-fastboot using the command line. It's kind of a pain. Can't be done on the phone...has to be done through usb connection to a computer.

I'm not having this problem.

When I first booted the phone after flashing, and it prompted me it found a WiFi signal, it also asked if I wanted to automatically try to connect to available signals. I selected "No", and have not had the WiFi try to turn on.

Edit: Maybe try going into the actual settings menu and turning off WiFi, if you are only hitting a widget now. I haven't been in the settings enough to know if there is an option to turn off auto WiFi in there, but that may be your best bet.

FYI: I flashed from completely stock .905 and have never rooted or flashed a leak before. (Have the SG3 on pre-order, so am willing to risk a brick at this point :) )

I flashed it last night, it's awesome! I even tried out Webtop 3.0 on my TV, and that is great as well. It looks like Motorola is doing a good job, right now it feels like the smoothness of GB blur, but much sleeker and possibly less buggy. I've noticed a few slowdowns and such, but nothing that has made me want to throw the phone out the window (I was using CM9 on .905 for the past few months, so it feels nice to have hardware acceleration again).

This leak is badd azz is all I can say.

Im typing this on the Lapdock 500, I have verified that Skype works using the onboard camera & all else is sweet. I had to install Nova Launcher because the stock launcher wasnt working correctly & all is fine now. Will test ethernet later on.

It's really not that bad. You need to DL the moto-fastboot program and the 902 preinstall image (available from the xda developers forum). Put them both in a folder. Boot the phone while holding volume down and power button, then plug it into the computer. Now open a CMD window and CD to the folder you created and copied the files to. Type "moto-fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img" and press enter. Wait while the preinstall image is flashed. Now type "moto-fastboot erase cache" and press enter, then "moto-fastboot reboot" and press enter. Unplug the phone, you're done.

From start to finish it probably took me about 30-40 minutes, but that also included finding and copying the files and the time the actual flashing took.

Or you could use RSD Lite and the 902 FXZ file to take it back to 902, then do the 904 update, then flash the ICS leak. I wanted to try it the other way first so I didn't have to reinstall all my apps.

It worked! Thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem you had. I edited the file and everything and it isn't working. What did you finally do to get it to work?

I used someone else's file. I had to root my phone the copied his file over which over wrote mine & then flashed without any issues at all.

I used Motofail to root, DL voodoo root keeper and ran it. Did the file exchange then flashed ICS. After I flashed ICS I ran voodoo again to get root back.

I'm now running rooted ICS!

i was having status 7 errors....used rsd to go back to .902 then took .905 ota then the ics leak loaded with no issues.....very sweet so far.....time to root lol.......

so.... after i installed/flashed this leak, it appeared to have completed everything just fine, but upon reboot, it goes into flash mode. here is what I get:

AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.71

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

Invalid CG OTV (CG: webtop); Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG HAB (CG; webtop, status: 0X004E)
Invalid CG OTV (CG:webtop)

any help to fix this would be awesome as i'm pretty screwed right now. Originally running stock .905 unrooted.

also, i am unable to go back into recovery. any attempt to do anything brings me right back to here.

Finally got this flashed. Haven't played with it much yet but so far it definitely feels smoother and snappier. Liking it so far...

Had the same thing happen. You're going to have to use the FXZ. 902 file to get back to stock .902. Then take the OTA for. 905. Then flash the ICS leak and you should be cool. Worked for me, now running ICS with no problems!

did you wipe your phone as well? would like to avoid it if possible, but will do if necessary.

After downloading and upgrading via recovery mode my phone keeps restarting itself. At least once an hour. Anyone else have this same issue with ICS? Also cannot receive and send any text messages.

I think that happens automatically when using the fxz file. I didn't do anything other than run rsd and install the. 902 file. Make sure anything you want that's located on the internal sd is backed up onto your external sd card.
