Yep, I got stuck in an unfortunate situation. One of my lines is month-to-month, so I'm using that upgrade to transfer to a TDP and get the UDP back under contract. Unfortunately, my other UDP contract doesn't expire until Feb. I would upgrade both phones to the T2 right now if that were an available option, but sadly it's not. At least I can do it with one of the lines...
If you are month-to-month, you will be charged in extra $20 per month to keep unlimited. People are doing these methods to get back under contract in order to not pay the extra $20 a month. Going under contract will save you $480 over the next two years for each line of unlimited you have. Even if you don't need a new phone, you can always upgrade and flip it for a profit.
