[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

If you are month-to-month, you will be charged in extra $20 per month to keep unlimited. People are doing these methods to get back under contract in order to not pay the extra $20 a month. Going under contract will save you $480 over the next two years for each line of unlimited you have. Even if you don't need a new phone, you can always upgrade and flip it for a profit.

Yep, I got stuck in an unfortunate situation. One of my lines is month-to-month, so I'm using that upgrade to transfer to a TDP and get the UDP back under contract. Unfortunately, my other UDP contract doesn't expire until Feb. I would upgrade both phones to the T2 right now if that were an available option, but sadly it's not. At least I can do it with one of the lines...

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Two days ago I ordered a T2 DBY 64 Gb by transferring an upgrade from a UDP to a TDP and ordering for the TDP line. The TDP line did not have an upgrade available, obviously. Checking today, I can confirm that there is no longer an upgrade available on the UDP line. That line now says "Upgrade not applicable", instead of "Upgrade not available". I'm guessing this was my last upgrade on the UDP line.

This should allow me to avoid the 2 year, $20/month increase that starts on the 15th.

What does your contract end date say? Has it changed from month to month?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I haven't been able to find the answer to his with the BB method. If its been answered already, my apologize.

Currently:
Line 1: Basic Phone (Month-to-Month)
Line 2: S4 UDP (Month-to-Month)

When going through the BB method, I would want to "upgrade" Line 2, which would re-new the contract on that line and avoid the fee, is that correct?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, Best Buy method would be an upgrade to Line 2.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I read the last few pages on this and correct me if Im wrong, all this only works if you have two lines correct? I have a single UDP line that has been upgrade eligible for over a year now...

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Both lines are eligible to upgrade and are on month to month. When I go to best buy what line do I tell them to use the upgrade?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

That should work as long as during step 2 you transfer the upgrade from the unlimited to the basic line. You need to use that upgrade in order to not get hit with the $20 charge.

The Best Buy Method works fine for a single line plan. Just upgrade online, have the phone ship to home, remove and destroy the SIM that ships with the new phone, and activate with the SIM in your old phone.

This has to be done online and cannot be done in-store. Just do the following:

1.) Go to bestbuy.com and use the upgrade on line 1 to order to the phone you want and have it shipped to home.
2.) When the new phone arrives, do not try to charge or turn it on. Remove the SIM card and destroy it from the new phone.
3.) Take the SIM from your old phone and put it in the new phone. Now turn on the new phone.

Repeat steps 1-3 for line 2. You can upgrade line 2 as soon as you have ordered the phone for line 1.

You can cut the sim down to work in the new phone, or go online to verizon and get a nano sim shipped to you

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Can someone who has successfully done the tdp udp swap BB method in the last week tell us exactly what info BB on line asked you for and is safe to give them? It appears they are asking for more info but I don't know since I've never done it before. I would imagine they need name address and phone number of tdp phone I am upgrading. Do they ask for vzw account number or social security number or any other personal info that they didn't used to ask for?

I just upgraded the other day on BB. Phone got shipped today, checked verizon, and it shows me as having upgrade in 2017 now and will avoid the $20/month for UDP while keeping my UDP. If you go BB route, just make sure you don't use the sim they ship the phone with, use the sim from your current phone to keep UDP.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

You need to go to one of the previous pages. It'll give you the option to see your contract date there, not on this page.
All the other lines show their contract end dates on that page.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hi all, single line UDPer here.

Any input why I can't ship Droid Turbo 2 to home? Only lets me do Store Pick Up.

Thanks
