Is the Nexus 6 camera sub par? I think not!

I have enjoyed the camera experience on my nexus 6 and it's one of the major reasons I'm not feeling any need to upgrade to one of the newer Samsung or HTC devices. I have a big awesome screen, front facing speakers, latest lollipop flavors, and a damn good camera! You disagree? Well, if you like to read opinions or reviews other than your own, then why not get the best, most in depth review? In the following link, they state the list is in no particular order, but it seems like they named their first two favorites in order. Please see for yourself:

Single pictures one at a time? Sure. no slow motion video. No burst.

simple fact is the Nexus camera application is missing a lot of features every other camera phone has. can you do some of the same things with other applications sure, but it would be nice to have it in one. The one that comes with the phone.

The review says the video has "jittery issues". If you go ahead and take video and leave it on autofocus do you have a lot of problems. Much worse than jittery.

Lol, despite all of the positive things posted in the review you found the drawbacks and glorified then. I'm just tying to figure out to what end. For the sake of taking pictures the Nexus 6 is pretty darn good. I've had burst mode before and rarely used it. And,I can honestly say that when I did, I never captured a picture or expression that was timeless that I wasn't able to capture with a single shot! Seriously!

Glorifying a review that overlooks the Nexus 6 glaring issues is fanboyism, however you look at it. Just because you personally don't use those options doesn't mean the phone is not lacking.

I challenge you to take a decent video tracking an object that is changing distances ( like a dog chasing a ball or a kid playing soccer) the Nexus 6 sucks at this and was a massive oversight in the review

Gee wiz dude, I'm not saying that it does or does not consistently track a video event, but I have shot plenty of video in 1080p before the 5.1 update and the video was quite good and fluid. I can confirm that stutter happened in UHD, BUT I can't play UHD on any of my devices so it's not really an issue for me. I'm not a fanboy just because I happen to like the simplicity of a phone that chooses not to give me every single feature just because the feature exists. I don't have ADD! I don't constantly need new stimuli because I can't focus or pay attention. I'm not going to go shoot a useless video to prove your point. That's senseless! If you want to keep nitpicking your devices for flaws then have at it. I presume you're probably not very content with any device. When that happens, you should ask yourself if that's the ADD or something that you really need!

Btw the review did not over look the the shortcomings of the Nexus 6, but you probably couldn't read it and stay focused long enough to discover that for yourself. Instead you're lobbing comments for the sake of argument. I doubt that you're even reading what I say! It will take too much focus and attention! But,I can guarantee that you'll get real offended that I'm suggesting you have ADD; however,I don't make that judgment about you if you don't make the judgment that I'm a fanboy! I consider fanboys to be mindless sheep. so, if that wasn't your intent then you don't deserve the ADD assessment.

I will say this. Taking a few 4000k vidoeos some panoramas and a few one shots in one afternoon out will sure eat alot of the battery. I always have a mini charging stick with me if i know im going to use the camera alot.

You guys obviously don't have kids. Try to take a pic of moving kids in low light with the flash... Stock app is WAY too slow. When my daughter says cheese, I press the shutter button and the first AF/AE light flashes. She thinks that first light means I took the picture, so she runs to me to see the picture on the screen. She has enough time to make it to me, all the way to the other side of the screen, when the actual flash finally flashes!! Useless IMO.

Personally I'm very happy with the N6's camera but then again, I'm not a photographer!

The cameras on mobiles can only be so good due to their size and build, yes there's always going to be a phone that has the best camera but do you not feel we expect far too much?!

Really if you need a camera that's so good then shouldn't you buy a decent DSLR?!

Not picking a fight; just my blunt, honest opinion! ;)

I have a few DSLR's but as you may have guessed it's not always convenient to lug around a giant camera. I have spent many hours with camera on the N6. I didn't need a review to tell me how the camera worked but I was surprised the review glossed over the shortcomings. I think I have purchased two or three applications to have all the functionality I think the camera should have natively. Google also admitted they screwed up and had to remove functionality from the camera they hope to add back in 5. 1. 1 https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=161613

Like it or not the simple fact is my galaxy s3 is, functionally, a better a camera than the one on the Nexus. The only reason that the N6 camera takes a better picture on the Nexus is because it has better hardware. To add, if the iPhone software was somehow available to run on the Nexus it probably would be the best freaking phone camera out there.

The hardware is not lacking the software is. Still not sure why everyone gets all buttthurt talking about it. It's a great camera if you're shooting pictures 1 at a time in good lighting. Plus it does RAW ... that's great. But deal with what's wrong with it too.

I don't think there's a single person in this room that sounds **** hurt but you. We have a serviceable camera on the N6, and it seems to work for most of us no matter how much you try to tell us that it's inferior. We just don't care! Lol! No one here is saying it's a perfect camera. You should reread what you've written to discover that you actually sound more offended than anyone else. You're tying to substantiate, validate and defend your opinions. I've had all the bells and whistles a camera application can offer and to be honest, most of the time I just want to take a few good shots, crop and edit and be done! It's just not that serious. It's really a shame because ever since the influx of smartphones, you just end up with a ton of pictures that never get used or shared. They just sit in a hard drive somewhere to eventually be erased. We don't print and show pictures the way we used to.

All photos email cameras have issues. I find the N6 camera to do a better job than most. If I had a complaint it would be with the software which I think could be better. I will say though I just went to Disney with my family which has 2 iPhone 6,iphone 5, note 3 and my N6 we played the pics from all our phones on a 50 inch 1080p TV and the N6 pictures were the best of all of them. I think that alone shows its a top camera.
