I've got a Nexus 6P here, lets get some questions going!

Ok, I'll try another one as my previous question did not get a reply.
Does it get hot while being used? I heard that the 810s had some issues with heat and given the metal body it should sink it so that the touch can easily distinguish the heat. If so, is the heat just noticable or holding one in your hand feels like it ran on nuclear decay?
This was the first question answered. Content below.

None whatsoever. Phone got a little warm during the first sync, but it's been great ever since.

My apologies if this was already asked and answered....

Coming from both an N4 (personal) and a iPhone 6 (work) that I carry daily, the one feature that I liked about the iPhone was the burst mode on the camera where by just holding down the camera app's button, it is able to rapidly take multiple photos quickly and then show me the best ones. Does the 6P have this feature or capability?

Thanks!

What screen protectors are people ordering for the 6p? I'd like to have one ready to fit when my 6p arrives so would appreciate any suggestions.

I want to know about the LED notification light.. Is it as beautiful as the N5 and N4? Does it have that nice blurry effect ? or just a normal dot kind of thing? Thank you

Are you able to shoot pictures in 16:9? If so- do you lose quality?

Thanks for this thread, much appreciated although I'm like a small child waiting for Christmas now after reading it. Only two weeks to go (hopefully)!

how is the screen compared to Samsung Note 5 and s6 edge ?
how is the camera ?
how is the battery drain ?
And how is Android 6.0 ? I know the pure edition system will be smooth perfectly

Burst mode is supposed to be a feature of the new camera, it was shown off at the launch event.

They've shown the notification led as just a door near the front camera

16:9 on any phone just crops the standard full frame 4:3 image into the 16:9 aspect ratio. You don't lose quality, but the image is physically smaller due to the cropping.

Don't understand why you'd use anything but full frame because of this, you can always crop 4:3 later, but you can't add back to aa 16:9.

Does the 6P have IR senors or makes use of the camera to sense if you wave your hand over it to show notifications?

So is the default aspect ratio 4:3? So far that's what it's looked like in all of the videos I've seen of the phone's camera app.

Have you tried using any other camera apps besides the google app with the 6P? I've noticed a few reviews so far where the highlights get blown out if the focus is on a darker part of the scene. I've noticed with my note 4 that the google camera app will do the same thing but the samsung camera app does not. Since the google app doesn't have settings for metering it doesn't seem like there is a way to fix it (HDR might help some), so I was wondering if other camera apps handled metering better with the 6P than the stock google app. In the end the camera looks very capable as long as you get the exposure right, this is fine for me as I don't mind tweaking settings and such but it would be nice if google fixed it for their app since it's supposed to be mostly auto with no hassle.

Does the fingerprint scanner double as a home button when the screen is unlocked or while using the phone?

That's actually an interesting question, I'd like to know that as well. My guess is no but it would be cool to have that be a setting or something. Are developers allowed to use the fingerprint sensor as a "button" in their apps? Like to use it as a shutter button for a front facing camera or anything?

you can do that with proximity sensors and apps such as gravity screen, but there's really no need for it with ambient notifications.

It is a very interesting question but I am going to assume no just because you wouldnt want an app to have the ability to use the fingerprint sensor to unlock it, go to use it, then proceed to bring up your home screen.

I'm a nut for speed, fluidity and smoothness.

1. How fast/smooth is the 6P compared to other high-end Android flagships? Just as fast? Faster? Slower? I'm talking about doing basic things like navigating the UI, Browsing on Chrome, going through apps on the multi-tasker, the time it takes for the keyboard to load up etc.

2. How many finger prints can you store on the phone (sorry if this has been asked already). I'm hoping you can store at least two (left and right index fingers).

3. Have you noticed any lag or stutter on the phone that disturbed what you were doing? By this I mean a keyboard that didn't load up right away, an app that was hanging before opening up, applications constantly having to reload when opened from the multi-tasker etc.

Thanks for doing this Russell. Really appreciate it.

2. 5 fingers

Hi Russell,

Have you tried the always listening Google Voice and if so how well does it work? Any problems with it? Also the NFC sensor as I understand it is just above the Nexus imprint has there been any problem using it with a case on or is it in the bulge where the camera and antennas are?

Thanks for doing this the thread has answered a lot of my questions and I am now trying to order one. Looks like I have to wait though oh well that's what you get when you don't get right on it out of the gate.
