Kickstand Peeling

Man, I didnt give this much thought when I first seen this thread...So for some reason while I was out today I just happened to look at my phone and its peeling. Lets just say I'm not happy, pay that much money for a phone and they went cheap on a feature that was a major selling point for the device!

i taped up my phone under and arround the kickstand with some thick tape and used a green scotchbright pad to scrub it untill it was all gone. then used some metal polish to polish it up and it looks better than ever

How'd you get that to take off anything? I tried that as well, and couldn't get off anything. Mine's peeled back about a third of the way totally, starting with the edge you put your finger under to open it. Currently using a tab off a beer to scratch it off, working well. ha.

picked mine up on release day
no problems with peeling
until yesterday.
i thought i was one of the lucky ones, ha

time for some scotch-brite pad! hope it works, too

i got a replacement because of the peeling on my first and now the replacement is peeling too I guess it's time to buy a scotchbright pad and give that a shot.

Got mine on day one - but it didn't start peeling until about a month ago. It's hardly a reason to get a replacement IMO.

If you don't like the look of the peeling, go with super fine steel wool (or wet/dry sand paper) then spray it with a clear sealer or top coat......MAKE SURE YOU MASK OFF THE REST OF THE PHONE BEFORE SPRAYING.

I was hoping that I could scrape off the rest of coating but it just looked worst. I then read the post about the dremel and got mine out, used a little wire brush wheel and presto, looks great. Finished it off with a little steel wool and it has a nice polished look and the -with Google- logo still intact.

Looks nice... mine is pealing too, is the Google logo etched onto it?

Mine is peeling also. It gives it a battle hardened "like I use my phone way to much" look. Need to get the rest of the peeling coating off and get it shiny again.

I think the kickstand pealing is the least of our worries. I wish they would allow us to switch it around to open the other way - so the power cord is on top! Besides, it lets people know you use your phone.

Did you use any sort of clear coat or sealed after you were done with the dremel tool?

That looks pretty good. I might have to break out the dremel and do this.

The coating is just that a coating. It comes off. You people sound like that dofus in the stamp commercial "there's nothing worse than standing in line at the Post Office." What a charmed life that guy must live. If it starts to peel use your fingernail and scratch the rest of it off. It will look even better. And may I suggest a little cheese with that whine.

Mine has been peeling since about week 2 of having the phone...

Honestly .. its cosmetic. .simply a coating on the metal to give it that smoke-tinted look..

I am NOT going to un-root my phone to replace it for a cosmetic issue that will happen on the replacement phone eventually anyway..

I had this happen to my other T-Bolt and scratched it all away. I just got a warranty replacement and want to prevent it from doing this somehow. Are there vinyl skins that cover everything on the phone, including the kickstand? Like invisible shield or skinit?
