Let's guess how long our JB official OTA will take!

Honestly (and IMO), folks shouldn't be directing their anger towards the phone--the phone is more than capable of being updated--but to the carrier itself. I def share in the frustration, but I do not think it's necessarily a "phone" issue but rather "big red likes to screw up everything" issue.

This. Blame Verizon.

Google shares some blame, too. The Nexus is name is their property. If they continue to let carriers have their will with it then it will mean nothing... and it already doesn't mean much outside the enthusiast crowd. It could be a problem as they seem intent on continuing to label their own mobile devices as Nexus devices.

Google can only do so much.. Carriers are responsible for their network and the devices on it. If a consumer has an issue on their Vzw Nexus they aren't calling Google, their calling Verizon. These are their policies and practices, like it or not, but they are doing something right if they have the most customers, best network, and best support of any of the national carriers.

the phone is what it is.. it is a Verizon phone.. its greatest feature doesn't really exist

How can you blame Google? The have released the CDMA version of software to Verizon to approve. Verizon just has not completed testing and given Google permission to release it. The saddest thing here is the lack of communication from Verizon. I might be saying good bye to Verizon at the end of this contract.

I'm not sure how anyone can complain at this point. The phone took forever to come out. Verizon never really pushed the phone. It doesn't have Samsung's name on it so they're not terribly interested in the phone.

Verizon has a great network and that's about where it ends. They have CMDA which is annoying. Their phone releases have always been painful.

The phone itself is great. I love it. Is there a killer feature we're missing from not having Jelly Bean?

Jelly Bean makes ICS look like JB alpha.

The update will come when it comes and when and if it does come you can bet your ass this will be the last update Verizon will push to this phone. When and if the update comes you will probably see Verizon post the EOL for this phone to wash there hands clean.

Absolutely not true. Guaranteed.

Same saying for Android.

Windows Vista should've been.Window's seven

ICS should've been Jelly Bean.

Google release the binaries and well as put the Verizon GNex on the AOSP list. the ROM that I am running (bugless beast) is flawless, IMO. 4G works great, even bloatware like the NFL and NHL apps work. So, why does it take so long for Verizon to release an official OTA when the amazing devs can get it up and running so perfectly?

My guess is that Verizon wants us to buy the newest phone to give them more money. no chance am I buying a phone with a skin placed over Android's OS !! In fact, I am planning to get the next Android phone as GSM and going to T-Mobile. This is ridiculous.

Especially since I received the official Android 4.1.1 OTA for my Asus Transformer TF300T last night. This is my first and last phone with Verizon, even though the coverage is great.

/end rant/

If the next Nexus isn't on Verizon I'm in the same boat.

if you are going to root and rom your phone, what does it matter what it came with stock?

it's more about the idea that the Gnex is supposed to get updates right away. It's the principle of the thing. I felt like I was dupped. Just a weird mental thing of mine. Mostly upset with myself about this.
