LG G3 Overheating warning?

The only other device that I got this warning was with the iPad. Once again, I left it in the car on a very hot day.

I would be more worried if a phone didn't have some sort of over heating warning and just let itself get damaged because of it.

Great point.

iPhones overheat alot too and they just give you a message saying its overheating. Im sure all phones do. I have never gotten even close to overheating yet

I have iPhones since day one. Never have I seen or heard of an iPhone over heating. I'm not saying that it doesn't, any electronic device will overheat if you leave it in a 100+ degree car. But in normal everyday use iPhones do not overheat. So is that was this issues is all about? Normal use getting overheat warnings or people using them in the sun or leaving them in their cars? If it's the first one then I would say it's an issue.

Pretty much. You can't expect a phone left in the sun to not overheat.. They don't have fans attached to them Lol. I my ex coworker use to leave his phone on the dash of the work truck when he came back it was legit scolding hot. He'd always complain about battery life and junk. I wonder why!

I wonder how long it will be before we have active cooling in phones? Surely technlogy must be at a stage we can put tiny fans in them.

I'm thinking about getting either this phone or the M8. The overheating warning also worries me. I'm a little concerned about the auto dimming too. Not sure if I want a phone that dims the brightness on its own.

Battery life and thickness would suffer too much.

Re: Does the LG G3 Overheat?

What cases if any are you using? What network? these are variables that are kinda important. I know my n4 in a tpu case would heat up like crazy when using navigate and sitting on the seat of the car in between stops.

Mine has overheated twice this summer. Both times I was taking photos in the sun. I have a black protective case on the phone. Perhaps the combination of sun and case bumped up the temp of the phone into the danger zone.

Re: Does the LG G3 Overheat?

Ok, I have had my phone overheat twice - both times when I was charging my phone in the car while using Google maps (GPS) to find a location. Since the map program drains the battery, I thought it would be helpful to charge the phone at the same time as using the map app. Well, the phone got very, very hot, gave me the "Overheated Warning" - and proceeded to let me know it had shut down a few applications, including the map app. I then have to wait a while until the phone cools down before I can use the map again to find out where I am going! Like I said, this has happened twice. The next time I used the maps program, I used it without charging the phone. Phone STILL got hot, but not enough to stop the map app from working.

Re: Does the LG G3 Overheat?

Sorry to hear about that. I have used every smart I've ever owned in a similar manner and have never had one give a warning or shut down.
Fortunately my G3 has never done this; love the phone but the minute it does, it's going back.
I do not believe that this is acceptable, using a phone as per design and not having it shut down is pretty standard for every other phone out there.
As I said, it's been a great phone so far and I hope it stays that way.

In Vegas recording the dolphins using high quality settings since I was going to transfer the bit to my computer and wanted great quality. But after about 3 minutes, the recording stopped and a message appeared about the phone's overheating preventing the high quality from continuing. The phone was very hot through my case and the battery was draining quickly. So I shut off Sync, Data, Location and lowered the display to preserve battery life. This never happened with my Note 3 . I have also had the phone get very hot when playing a graphics demanding game like Defense Zone HD. Can't imagine how hot it would have been without the case.

I have the korean version and i get the overheating notification when i use my flashlight app. And it is definitely HOT!
