LG G3 Overheating warning?

Just traded in my GS5 for the LG G3 and hope I made the right choice. I am charging and the phone does feel warm. Hope that is not a sign of bad things to come. I adjusted the brightness from 95 to 80 so hope that solves the problem. Thanks for the help.

Where does it say that the LG is the most returned device????
A few people from a couple of individual independent carrier stores mentioned that tidbit of info but I have not seen anything official that supports this apocryphal piece of news.

The only time I have felt it get truly hot, rather than just warm, and see the overheating warning was this weekend. It had been sitting on the dash of a boat in direct sunlight on the lake, while it was charging and streaming Google Music. This was AFTER the other 2 devices on the boat, an iPhone 5 and a Note 2, had done the same thing. My buddy threw his iPhone in the Yeti it was so hot.

I would consider this perfectly normal, and not a sign of any device issues. If it happened during normal or even heavy usage, I would be understandably concerned. But leave anything out in the sun long enough, including yourself, and you may see some ill effects.

That's so very obvious.
People are reporting their devices overheating while sitting in the indoors in cool climates, sometimes to the point where the warning pops up on the screen. My wife was in our air conditioned home watching videos on her G3 when the she mentioned that the device was getting uncomfortably warm. A few minutes later she brought the device over to me and handed it to me. There was the overheating warning pop up box. She was going to put up with the screen dimness but we decided that the overheating would be a deal breaker if it happened again. She let the phone cool down for a bit, then it happened again. I jumped on this site and found that others had experienced the same in normal indoor conditions. I reactivated her G2 and returned the G3. We decided to wait until LG decides to correct the overheating flaw instead of putting out product with warning pop ups.

When I returned a G3 to a store in Manhattan, the rep stated that the G3 was by far their most returned and exchanged device. Due to the device getting hot, then the screen brightness issue. When I told the rep I wanted to return my G3, he looked at another rep, rolled his eyes and said, "Another G3."
I have a coworker who purchased a G3 before we did and he has screen dimness battles. He's always adjusting the screen brightness but he's never complained about the phone overheating.

I just had the same problem with mine. I'm on my third replacement and can't believe all of the issues i'm having with this phone.

I noticed it was over heating even when not in use. I did a hard reset, and I turned off the battery saver and that seems to help. I'm just going to replace it with a new one. Something this expensive shouldn't be doing that IMO.

Good Luck, hope it works!

Wishing it had a driving mode! I had to DL a app, it works but it sucks as well!

I understand this is an old post however my LG G3 overheats on almost an hourly basis. To the point I can not game, download or even listen to music for any period of time. God forbid I charge it while turned on.
I've spoken with Verizon and after their mandatory hard resets (4 of them) they are sending out a replacement device.

When I play "asphalt 8" my G3 reaches 90°c and eventually shuts down.

My phone gets a bit warm when used for a long period of time. but never experienced overheating and eventually shut down on my unit.

watching movies for 2hrs+ and surfing the net for another hour, the heat generated is tolerable. I usually keep my brightness at 50% and never use my phone during charging.

My LG G3 phone is getting over heated when I use the GPS navigator and also when I try to take pics continuously. Phone also getting switched off due to overheat.

Re: Does the LG G3 Overheat?

Mine got hot once when I was driving in the car. I wasn't using GPS or anything, but when I picked it up it was more than warm. That's the ONLY time I've noticed it getting hot in use though.

I just got this phone Friday and after 2 hours of bringing it home I noticed the phone was very warm including Saturday but today at church I had the phone in my pocket and it became so hot that it felt like I had a fire in my pocket so I am taking it back and the battery life sucks.

Never noticed the warmth on mine but I have a case on it. I do however hey screen issues. watch the screen Dim for no apparent reason while using the phone a period of time.

I got back from Mexico (Riviera Maya) last weekend and it was regularly in the mid to high 30's our entire stay. I used my G3 indoors and out quite a bit, in very hot conditions, and I never once had a problem with the phone overheating. No messages or warnings, no shutting down, nothing. The phone got warm a couple of times (understandably) but it was never an issue.

I have had my LG G3 for over a month now..I HAVE experienced the over heating ONLY when I have the brightness turned up - I have found that if I leave it at 50% to 56% it never gets hot...also no extreme battery usage - but brightness turned up Ohhhhh yes!!! And I use the 128 SD card in mine as the T Mobile rep said it was built to handle it!! Back to the overheating - I have found that if I shut off the phone and remove the battery it cools down faster but if I leave it together it remains hot for a few hours...

Loving my LG G3:cool:
