LG G3 Overheating warning?

My LG G3 overheated on the charger and I guess it became hot enough to create a hairline crack on my screen and my screen isn't working anymore. I called LG and they set up a RA so i can send it in. Has anyone else experienced this issue? will LG replace it or attempt to charge me?

I don't believe heat would cause your digitizer glass to crack.

Did you recently upgrade to Lollipop? Since my Lollipop update on my Sprint G3 QI charging regularly causes the overheating message and QI charging is much slower.

I've had mine since July and never had the overheating thing...

I've had the phone for six months and it just started heating up (warm to hot) about three days ago (Saturday). I shut the phone off, recharged the battery and turned the phone on, on Sunday. Phone performed fine on Sunday, but today (Monday) when the battery got down around 15% it started to heat up again so I've shut it down and am now charging it. I am not playing games, looking at videos or anything that I think would cause the phone to heat up, as a matter of fact I'm using the phone the same way I did for the past six months and up until three days ago it never heated up. Do I need a new battery or what is happening to cause the phone to now heat up?

yep had the over heating problem in the extreme.
put it on charge one night was on charge for about twenty mins till i noticed the smell of hot leather, picked it up and burnt my finger also it scorched the sofa as well.
from the day i got it it felt warmer than any of my other phones.
voda phone reckons its down to moisture damage but as its never been near water i asked how it was possible. they responded by saying it was down to atmospheric conditions such as high humidity, so basically i voided the warranty by taking it out on a cloudy day.
and voda phone wont replace it or help me in any way, trying lg to see what they will do.

You may try Clean Master App which would warn you if it heats up and notify you which apps are heating up the phone and let you kill those apps and bring down temperature immediately. Obviously some apps must be on a continuous loop and make the phone heat up drastically. This app has got other useful features like cleaning up junk files, cache memory and acts as a App Manager to uninstall the apps. Worth trying!

I live in Las Vegas, first time i took it outside when it was hot out and tried using the camera it gave me overheating warnings and then shut the phone down automatically. It got insanely hot.

I would love to hear from current G3 owners about any overheating problems they have experienced so far. I saw a few people mentioning having to turn down screen brightness and getting warnings about the phone getting too hot to function properly (or slowing down).

Any experiences you've had (with overheating or lack of) would be helpful. Thanks!

I have had my G3 for about a year now and as of late (past month) my phone has been overheating constantly and also the phone will lag bad, I will be typing and type an entire word but the phone will not register that I typed a word til I'm done and race to catch up, I'm getting really pissed off at this thing

My LG G3 over heated yesterday and shut down !!! I was not even using the phone when this happened !!! I also have had problems with signal strength and dropping 4G all the time !!! I really like the phone but I am going to have to get a different phone because this has been going on for months !!!

Why not just contact lg? Or your service provider for a replacement.

Did you try Clean Master? Pl see my earlier response. It would tell you why your phone is heating up.

I have had my phone for about 7 months and have had the phone get too hot while recording video. It has literally stopped working. I have had to shut it down and missed quite a bit of photos and videos..quite aggravating.

The phone commonly turns brightness down to 95 % as opposed to 100 %. The phone doesn't exactly « overheat », but it does certainly warm up quickly.

Odd about all these overheating issues. I won't deny my phone gets warm, but then again I tend to keep my brightness quite low, and I usually have good data connection. Looks like the drive for more power in phones has led to a plethora of heat issues not just here, but everywhere.

I just got a G3 soon as I used my camera the first time it was all black, shut the phone off did a restart. Did it again 20 minutes later. Now 4 days later I go to use the video and it gives me a overheating safety warning. Then it did it again and the said it must shut down. Phone shut itself off and it was so hot you would have thought it was on something hot. I was in an air conditioned room, and every 7 seconds the video would do this. I am very pissed to say the least

my G3 overheats daily... i am not a heavy user, web browse make phone calls, think it is some app i may have downloaded and cant figure out what:-!

My phone gets so hot that I can't put it up to my ear. I did a factory reset and that helped (lollipop totally killed all functionality). It still gets too hot, but not so bad that apps stop working
