LG G3 Overheating warning?

I got the warning just now, it was my bad though I place it in direct sunlight while watching YouTube for 30 minutes.

So all this is just a warning right, nothing to get excited about?

Leaving it in the sun will obviously not allow it to properly cool itself. If the phone didn't shut down on its own you probably have nothing to worry about.

Just a warning... My htc would get wicked hot with no ill effect.

I am yet to see this warning also

It didn't shut down, just a warning message.

After it happened my OCD came back, it was all I could think about. That's why I ask. Thanks.

Re: Does the LG G3 Overheat?

I have the 16gb UK version with 2gb ram and I am all too often getting the phone overheating and turning off. It usually occurs if I have the phone plugged in and watching a vid or using Waze. The rear buttons get "very" hot!

The rear buttons appear to be used as a heatsink of sorts. It makes sense, as they could be made of metal (most likely are aluminum) and have a direct route to the outside of the device.

by any chance anyone tried to use it as a GPS navigator to see if it can work for lots of hours without overheating or shutting down.?????
thanks

Not sure what you consider lots of hours but the first day I had mine I used it for two hours using Google Maps navigation - no issues

I got a warning once saying the phone was going to drop charging because it was too hot. I had just gotten chronicler and I was screen mirroring a show that said not have the cast option. The phone was super hot.

I've used Waze for an hour or two without issues as well. It's a huge battery drain, but the phone and Waze worked flawlessly.

What is incredible about the overheating warning pop up is it means, during testing, LG became fully aware of the propensity for the G3 to overheat to dangerous levels. Instead of correcting that serious flaw, LG incredibly decided to send the faulty device to market anyway with a WARNING message to let you know that your device is getting too hot!! That's how much respect LG has proven to have for the consumer. We won't fix the issue. Instead we'll warn you when it's about to happen. And then throttle your device and render it useless until the problem passes. And thank you for paying top dollar.
What would we do if, after buying a new car, the dealer says, "The engine may overheat on the way home. If it does, a warning light will appear on the dash and you'll have to pull over and turn the car off for a few minutes until the engine cools down."
In order to get ahead in the spec race, LG ended up throwing the baby out with the bath water. Consumer be damned. It's no wonder that stores are reporting the G3 as the most returned or exchanged mobile device so far this season.
No company can earn my business with practices like that. Though I'll do business with defective merchandise for a discount.

I leave my G3 at 60% brightness all the time and I've rarely gone over 40 degrees Celsius

iPhones overheat alot too and they just give you a message saying its overheating. Im sure all phones do. I have never gotten even close to overheating yet

I would be more worried if a phone didn't have some sort of over heating warning and just let itself get damaged because of it.

Where did you get that from. Mine only overheats when I leave it in direct sunlight. Never ever has it overheated in normal or extended usage.
