LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: LG G4 SOT

I'm very impressed with my battery. Here's an example: went golfing the other night, I use my phone for GPS yardage and keeping score (I use GolfPad GPS, but that's another thread 😉).

I set my brightness to 100% and the screen stays on for the whole round, obviously with GPS at high accuracy.

I went 1 hour and 45 minutes and the battery only went down 24%. That would extrapolate or to a whopping 6 hours SOT.

Granted, I was not doing heavy apps but during that time did take several pictures, a short phone call, and responded to some text messages.

Re: LG G4 SOT

Let me expand on this a little bit, I'm getting 1-2 hours SOT, so 4 would be freaking outstanding for me. I have my brightness turned up, so that's probably my problem. I'm also playing a few games, so I'm taxing the device more than just reading emails, etc.

I'm finding as I get older I need the brighter screen in order to see everything. If I could function with the screen set lower, I'm sure I'd see more SOT, but as it is, I doubt I could improve it any.

Though not on this forum, and with some specific Nexus 6 / root stuff, this post is worth reading: https://www.reddit.com/r/nexus6/comments/33mo36/nexus_6_battery_life_its_not_7_hours_sot_and_its/ Many of the improvement strategies noted have already been discussed in this forum (see the Battery and Access Lock threads in the Common Issues and Solutions sticky http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=544443) but I love how the author analyzes the situation.

Re: LG G4 SOT

Compared to M9 and note 4, g4 is on par or better?
I got 2 QC 2.0 that are really a great help for my m9

Re: LG G4 SOT

Well I think that the sot is actually ok on mine as well...today I was a little hard on the battery with checking IG, checking emails (3 accounts on push), and most of my sot was playing boom beach and you know how hard that is on the battery, plus a long distance call for 2 plus hours and I got 10 plus hrs, 4 plus Sot and various other tasks. When im off work I put a beating on my phone...so to say the least, I'm happy

Re: LG G4 SOT

I'd say Note 4 is way better with better but it is also 3200 mah, I usually got like 5-6 SOT with it.
G4 I get like 3-4 hours SOT.

Similar screen resolution between the two, one difference could be AMOLED vs IPS LCD; on my old Note 2, I was able to use a black background to save battery. Other than that, 5 to 6 SOT on your Note 4 is very good.

On my G4, I usually charge it at around 30% to 40% and I'm at 2.5 to 3 SOT... so extrapolates to 4.25 hrs SOT. I've had that since the first week, and I'm happy with it -- I have only once or twice, in nearly 2 months usage, felt that I wouldn't get through the day without charging.

Wow, how did you get that SOT with the Note 4? I had it for a few months and I couldn't get more than 2.5 hours of SOT with my usage. I get between 2-5 hours of SOT on my G4, depending on what i'm doing, wifi or no wifi, etc.

Re: LG G4 SOT

I heard note 4 battery was double before the lollipop update. Next android M should give a great battery life to all actual flagships, you have to wait 3-4 months for this update depending on Lg, samsung and htc.

Re: LG G4 weird standby battery drain

Hello!

I just started having this issue yesterday afternoon And am trying to avoid going out to buy another battery if possible-

Yesterday at work after lunch I charged my phone like normal to have juice for Friday night. Unplugged at 100%, went out, 2 hours later after barely any use I noticed my battery at 25%. Thought it was weird but didn't suspect anything so I set it to charge. Unplugged at 100%, went home, messed around on the phone for a few then went to bed... Probably at 78% or so.

Woke up and it was shut off, battery completely drained. No wifi on overnight, all apps closed out. It's a stock, unrooted G4, nothing new installed recently...so what gives?

Since I'm sort of on the topic... is not using the supplied cable really that big of a deal and could that be related to this?

Thanks for any and all help, folks!

Well, all seems well so far.

But I think I'm paranoid...because I turn my phone off every night now.

Re: LG G4 weird standby battery drain

Ugh, Herl13, I wrote a reply, but it failed to post.

-the cable choice can slow down your charging, especially if a thin cheap cable. It will not impact battery life, however. So using a good cable is a good idea, but shouldn't relate to causing a problem like this.

- starting with a reboot and a Clear All of recent apps will help you start fresh.

- the next time it happens, go to settings, battery, battery usage, and take some screenshots of what is using the most battery. Posting those may help give some understanding of what is killing your battery. Best case, it shows a specific app that is using a ton of battery.

Re: LG G4 SOT

Im having around 3+H sot atm, but im only on my 2º charge since i bough G4 few days ago :P But seems hes getting better on standby mode. last night only dropped 100-99% in 7-10H

Im using greenify also, and no facebook installed, but seems the G4 takes a lot % comparing with Z3 when using.
I will post more feedbacks on next days and more charges.

Good to hear. 3+ hours SOT, without doing any special tweaks (turning off some synchs, adjusting your location settings, etc.) is pretty good. Also, I recommend installing GSam to get better monitoring of your battery performance.

Please read through the http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/544443-common-issues-solutions.html sticky and let us (the forum junkies) know if you have any questions.

Re: LG G4 weird standby battery drain

Thanks for the tip, RedOctobyr!

It seems o be working fine since the reboot and charge this morning. I will follow up if that changes.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

My battery life is pretty terrible. But I am a POWER user. It's not even funny. If I leave the phone unplugged over night it'll drop maybe three or four percent. That's about eight hours on average. I always carry a fully charged battery cause I'll kill two batteries in a day. I'm on the Sprint variant, and I'm nearly certain it's their Sprint zone app.

I've got one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Cert...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU4610379 I carry it around in my man purse and it's good for 3 full charges, qc.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I get better battery life than my last 3 devices: Note 4, Nexus 6 and Lumia 930. The Lumia 1520 had SUPERB battery life, with a HD screen and slower processor and less power hungry OS, that's to be expected. I'm very happy with my G4. Regardless though, I do carry around a 10,000mah power bank (amazon basics) in my bag for those extra long days where I spend 4-5 hours on my device streaming music, browsing the web, and or taking pictures.

Yesterday I got 2.5 hours of SOT over 20 hours of being unplugged (my day) and still had 20% left. I could have easily achieved 24+ hours. I don't need a phone that does 6 hours of SOT straight. I need a phone that has GREAT standby time, and the G4 delivers :)

The stand by time on the G4 is astounding. Definitely better than any other smart phone I've owned.

My LG G4 is stuck at 80% battery and isn't recognizing my sim card.

I rebooted my phone today and the battery was stuck on 80% and it claimed that my service was disabled. It took multiple reboots for my phone to stop glitching. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm using T-Mobile and I'm using the LG-H811 model
