LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: My LG G4 is stuck at 80% battery and isn't recognizing my sim card.

I'm getting the same issue on VZW. Multiple reboots so far hasn't worked. Anyone have any ideas before i reset my phone?

After 20+ reboots it finally started working again. I have 2 batteries and it has now happened with both batteries. Could it be SIM car or battery related?

Try Safe Mode. Hold the power button until the power options appear.

Tap and hold on "Power Off" until a message about Safe Mode appears. Tap "OK".

See how it's like.

Re: LG G4 SOT

I'm lucky to get 3-3 1/2 hours SOT. I wish it were more, but having the spare battery helps. Had the S6 edge for about a week and I will say I get better battery life on the G4

Re: LG G4 SOT

Mine is horrible. Loaded gsam this morning at 100% and will hopefully see whats killing my battery. Removed our maas360 MDM software as well but didn't make a difference for yesterday.Screenshot_2015-08-19-20-31-05_resized.png Screenshot_2015-08-19-20-31-28_resized.png

Re: LG G4 SOT

From my use the LG G4 gets the same battery life as the Note 4, it depends how you use the phone. I live in a fringe reception area, play games, stream videos, browse the web. I would average 4 hours on screen time with heavy use on both phones. A light user will have a different experience though. It would be nice if a phone could replace the home computer with unlimited power supply for people that like to go game and netflix crazy but it's not going to and I don't expect it to even though it would be nice.

Re: LG G4 SOT

To get the longest time on battery one needs to locate and get rid of battery wasters. After much testing and tracking down the battery wasters on my G4 (note none of that impacted how I use my phone) I went from out of the box with all my apps installed of 10 hours from full charge to 24+ hours from a full charge with 3-4 hours of screen on time from playing games mostly; some web browsing; and a little email, calls and texting. Projected I can get 10+ hours of screen on time on a full charge. Which would mean charging up in the early evening instead of at bed time. I had to block keep awake and location services to all apps that don't need it but used them. Got rid of 3 apps that I rarely used that only replaced using the websites (they were waking the G4 like crazy without ever using them). Went to GPS only setting for location services (the other two options consume at a higher rate). And I still haven't gotten rid of all the waste. I estimate that if I do clean things up so there is none or almost no waste I'll have 36+ hours from a full charge without changing how and what I do with my G4 on a daily basis. That is by far the best time on battery I have see from all the android devices I have ever owned. But who knows what kind of battery life they could have had, given all the tweaking I now know of. If all of that stuff was possible on the older android versions.

Re: LG G4 SOT

I've had my G4 since launch(back and forth with other phones as a daily driver over this time however). I have yet to get much more than 3hr SOT. I ever did a factory reset to see if its something I did to make matters worse. I disabled every ATT app I could find. Nothing is shown on GSAM or battery app that is sucking power more than the OS, and I have a lot of sync services turned off. I do have gmail, exchange syncing, but compared to a few other phones, this one is average at best in SOT. My screen brightness is varied(I do this manually given the light conditions).
I do have 2 spare batteries, have used them and get same SOT and overall battery life.
Sad to say testing a 2 year old Nexus 5 with latest Marshmallow build gave me similar SOT as the G4.( I know not apples to apples comparison)

Re: LG G4 SOT

Seems like normal SOT. According to GSAM, I only get about 3 hours of screen-on time, but the battery barely goes down at all with screen off, so it doesn't bother me as much. I can have my phone on with screen off for 8-10 hours while I sleep, and the battery goes down maybe 2-3%.

Depending on my use, sometimes my phone only makes it about 15-17 hours, other times, it lasts a day and a half to two days.

Re: LG G4 SOT

There seems to be huge variation when it comes to SOT on this phone. I've gotten 4 hours at best, and others have gotten a lot more, and some less. I have a lot of stuff disabled, and have followed all the threads relating to battery life. I've implemented pretty much every suggestion I could find, including access lock. With my phone, even sitting idle, i'll lose charge, which is odd. This morning I was losing charge pretty quickly with the phone just sitting with the screen off. I put it in airplane mode and the drain stopped cold. For some reason, my phone seems very vulnerable to a poor signal. No idea why. I also experience random heating up when using the phone. This also causes the battery to drain quickly. I really like the phone overall, but at times, it's a bit frustrating when others seem to experience none of these issues.

Re: LG G4 SOT

Phone died, swapped out battery, will post that info next time. I don't get good cell service, so I think that might be the problem. I'm gonna try turning mobile data off while I'm at home and see how that goes. Will post progress during the day tomorrow.

Bad cell service is definitely a battery killer.

Re: LG G4 SOT

I'm pretty sure my phone achieved unicorn status yesterday.
