LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: LG G4 SOT

The last few times my phones have gotten significant updates, they have defaulted to "global", ie.Kitkat and Lolipop in my G2, and the most recent update on my G4. Might be just a Verizon thing, though. Global really killed my battery on my G2, and seemed to increase my data usage, as well.

Can anyone help me out?

Both the audible and system ui are way too much... But even then your whole phone is discharging way too fast. (Can you post a screenshot of the main gsam battery chart?)

I would recommend booting into safe mode and confirming that the phone does / doesn't start discharging at a more reasonable pace.

If it does, then its time to start uninstalling apps.

If it doesn't, then its either time for a factory reset or a new battery (or phone?)

When looking at the gsam battery sucking app list, you need to understand that system items are used by other apps... So overy high system drain is likely caused by poorly running apps.

Re: LG G4 SOT

I also have multiple spare batteries because of promotions and so forth, I think I'm gonna have to do factory reset and redownload apps one charge at a time to find the culprit

One more thing to try: if you think that a particular app is causing the issue (audible or another app) try out the "access lock" method (see the Common Issues and Solutions sticky) to see if the app is using location or Keep Awake all the time.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

Mine is the screen. Everything else is ok, but it falls off a cliff when I light the screen up. Losing a % every minute at only 20% brightness. So frustrating and makes what could be a great device totally useless. Hopefully someone figures out the defective component in these phones some day so as I can try do a repair.

Could that be a bad battery rather than a screen fault?

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I tried other batteries but I'd no change. I'm toying with whether to buy another screen and take a risk, or just sell it and buy a camera.
After my G2 being such a brilliant device, it's just such a huge disappointment that this was so bad as I was waiting on its launch for months.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I'm selling mine. Horrible SOT due to high resolution. Going back to Z3. I only miss G4 camera, which is outstanding.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

Many things affect battery life. One thing I've found is the radio.. If you are not in a perfect reception area your phone is going to searching for a signal a lot. That affects battery life. Heavy GPS usage will affect it.
I came from a note 3 and had terrible battery life. It was 2 years old and I'm sure the original battery was no longer in its prime of life.
I upgraded to the G4 because of the ability to get a new battery if I need it.
I have been both happy and impressed with the g4 battery life. No, folks, it won't last all day and night. Compared to other phones it is an Ace. (as good or better than any other)

Here's what it looked like today, I know audible is bad on the battery, but its getting ridiculous.

Audible is a hog. An hour of audio should not eat that much juice. Is it streaming the audio? If so that may explain it's consumption a bit more. But still that seems high. Things of note I notice from these screen shots are as follows. Google play services and voicemail may very well have gone rogue. I recommend doing the revert to stock play services and reupdate method. Worse case scenario is a few minutes wasted doing it, best case I'm right and you get quite a bit of juice to use elsewhere. As for voicemail app I'm not sure what can be done if it has gone rogue. Do you use flipboad? If not I would disable it to recover juice it is using. I assume android wear is some sort of smart watch? Juice may be recoverable from that if you don't need it connected all the time. Android system includes location services. I recommend setting that to GPS only as, with much testing, I discovered the other two options consume at a higher rate. In addition use access lock to deny location permissions for anything you don't need having the permission. Additionally keep awake permissions can be disabled on just about everything without consequence to the app's functionality. That should recover some more juice as well. This should be a good start. I'm sure from there we can analyze some other data to find out where else juice can be recovered from.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I get 5-6 hours of SOT no problem and even get 4+ hours SOT with the brightness at 95% and streaming music from the cloud over Bluetooth close to nonstop.

Debloater Tool is crucial. I'd be super loving this phone if it didn't mistake scrolls for taps on a semi-regular basis.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

None of mine is signal, bloat, Bluetooth, wifi, LTE, it's 100% the screen. The battery can't handle what the screen pulls and it just plummets.

Re: LG G4 SOT

Thanks for the help. I keep location services turned off. The audible files are not streaming, they are all downloaded. What I'm really worried about is Android system. I will go to sleep with a full charge and wake up with %50. All the battery drain is due to "Android system". I'm pretty tech savvy, I can't figure it out.

Can you post a screen shot of Android System like the one below? Mostly interested in the Keep Awake part.
