LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

Why not get an external power pack? I use an Aukey 10,000mA quick charge pack: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...hawk-future-ca-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU4694486 A lot easier than swapping batteries; I keep it in my knapsack that I have with me most places.
I'd argue that swapping batteries is easier than being tethered to a small brick with a cable. Takes me less than 30 seconds to swap out batteries and go from 5% charge to 100% charge instantaneously.

Re: how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

I have the freebie battery and swap it out almost every day when the other one gets to around 20-25% battery left. I'd rather have them both die a little slower over the course of a few years than run one in to the ground and restart up with a brand new one. I have a similar theory when buying new shoes.

Thought battery life be better on this phone going straight to the new BlackBerry Android when out. My second battery of the day crazy just from browsing had brightness on 0% all day and still.

There is something seriously won't with your phone. What app is "Internet"?

If you're just browsing, it should be your browser listed.

Yea whatever app you're using that is labeled as "Internet" is chewing through your battery. There is no specific process or app titled "Internet" on this phone stock to my knowledge

I think for the external battery packs, the problem is how to have the phone in one pocket like front right jacket pocket and then have the battery in the left front jacket pocket with a cord that doesn't cause a hazard...

Back pants pocket to front pants pocket isn't too bad. Way easier to just swap out internal batteries though.

Or just put them in the same pocket... I just have a 5000mAh battery that has built in macro USB cable and it is smaller and thinner than the G4. I just put stack it with the G4 to charge. I only had to use it once since I got the G4 back in June. My free spare battery is sitting in its plastic packaging along with the charger and SD card.

I keep one extra and start charging the replaced one as soon as I changed it. Worked out of the country for me.

I got the extra free one but I really never used it. On rare occasions when I had my case off I would swap the battery just to do it but I never carried the spare around and swapped. I usually am always able to charge.

Pocket not big enough for both items as I also carry my wallet in my jacket pocket with the phone.

Never drained the battery during the day so I'd have to say none.

Re: Shop Android Batteries

Any issues with using a cheap charger for the battery? Will it wreck the battery at all?

Re: FDR and Battery Life

OK, it's been 8 days since I restored the APKs for NFC and Bluetooth features and settings. At the time I did that, as I posted then, my battery life was:

15 H 17 M overall, 5 H 53 M SoT.

Right now:

17 H 36 overall, 5 H 43 M SoT.

Also, today's drain rate at this point should bump those numbers a touch more when I put the phone on the charger at the end of the day. So, headed in the right direction.

While it could be the Global to LTE/CDMA switch had some positive impact, that seems unlikely (at least in that small window of time), since it seemed to have none in the couple of days before I fixed my WiFi settings crash issue by restoring NFC and Bluetooth. Plus, the battery seemed to start gaining ground much closer to that repair.

It will take some time for the numbers to level off. I'm interested to see if I wind up back where I was before FDR (20 h total/6:15 SoT), or gain a drop or two more juice.

They say talking to yourself is OK, but if you start answering yourself...

Just wanted to drop in on this thread one more time. In the past 5 days since my last post, The battery has leveled off somewhere in the 17 H + range overall, with just under 6 hours SoT (17 H 30 M and 5:48 SoT at the moment).

It seems unpredictably variable from day to day. Obviously that depends on any number of factors generally, but even when days seem to be otherwise similar, I may get a 4% drain per hour one day and a 6%+ drain per hour the next.

My conclusion, at least for my own use of the G4 over a little more than 3 months now, is that it's less predictable battery-wise than any phone I've had. Fortunately, it isn't bad while doing that, but I'm left with this lingering feeling that I will never catch that sweet spot of optimization I have generally found on other phones. Especially since my overall battery life is 3 hours worse after a FDR.

Re: Turn off battery charge sound?

This does turn off the sound, but not the vibration or the notification. I just want the whole stupid thing disabled. It's absolutely pointless. I have eyes...I can see when my battery is charged!!

I may sound a little more upset than you think is necessary, but if you have an LG you may understand my frustration. If not, imagine this...your phone is charged to 100%, but you leave it plugged in because why kill your battery if you're 3 feet from a wall charger, right?? The phone literally vibrates at least once every 15 seconds because it charges to 100%, stops charging, drains JUST ENOUGH to start charging again, then bzzzzzz....full battery, time to stop charging and drain just enough to charge and fill again!!! BZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

I am having the exact same problem (LG g3)... Beeps and turns the screen on to tell me it's full which in turn lowers the battery life to 99% then the screen turns off and it charges for 3 seconds and does it again... And again... Makes my bedroom look like a disco and the beeping is incessant! Tried leaving it in another room but it wakes up my kids or worse makes the dogs bark. Unbelievable!!

Battery

Trying to decide between keeping the One M9 or getting a G4. The only thing holding me back from the G4 is the battery complaints. My M9 gets me through the day no problem but the camera is pulling me into the G4. Are the G4 battery complaints justified still or has updates made the battery better?

Digitally assigned space taken up by my Chromebook, M9 or N9 <(•.•)>

Re: Battery

G4 makes it through a full day with moderate use. Standby is great, but battery life takes a big hit when watching videos, which isn't a big deal if you have an extra battery.

Re: Battery

The majority of people I see online get great battery life with the G4. I had the M9 briefly and based on my experience the G4s battery life is significantly better. I believe tech sites have it rated better as well.
