LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: Battery

If you are not a hardcore user it can get you through 1.5-2 days. If you use it a lot you will find yourself charging it every night.

Re: Turn off battery charge sound?

Try "Silence Premium Do Not Disturb". I disabled the app and tried using the built in Do Not Disturb, set all notifications off, but the damnable battery full chirp still chimes. The above app effectively kills that notification.

Mine cannot be the bloat as it is an unlocked version. It just has really crappy power usage from the screen.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

As a follow up to this, has anyone ever released a custom ROM to address the issues with the battery on this phone. We all know LG aren't going to bother. I'm not normally one to go for that kind of thing (only done it once before and had issues) but with less than 2 hours SoT my G4 is already no better than a brick so I might as well give it as a shot.

Do you run the screen at 100% brightness? If not, then the screen isn't the issue. Something else is chewing battery.

I run at 19% battery. Nearly flat line when not using the phone, no issues there. As soon as I light up the screen (well as light as it can get at 19%) the graph falls off a cliff. I lose close to 1% battery a minute while it's on. Lock it - fine again.

Sounds like either something you installed or a faulty device.

Re: T-Mobile My Account App - Battery Drain!

Smart App Manager gives you the option to uninstall it (in case that unistalling the updates doesn't work).

Either it's defective or something else is the problem. The screen should not eat up 1%/minute.

Maybe not as great as reviewers said but more than adequate for my needs.
As others have noted, Battery life is a function of many different things.
Poor signal area, usage, bloatware, ambient temperature, etc. Etc. It's hard to compare the battery life one person gets to any other persons.
Compared to many smartphones I have owned it's 'not bad'.

I'm thinking defective as the idle time usage is too good for it to be a background app using the battery. I'm toying with either trying a custom ROM (though I don't want to ruin the camera) or replacing the screen unit. I've tried numerous batteries. Below is a typical graph example of my idle vs screen-on battery drain.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

Battery life on my G4 is absolutely horrible. Granted, I keep my screen brightness at least at 90% most of the time but that's because the screen just isn't very bright. I'm coming from the GS6 and that screen is MUCH brighter. I'd say that my GS6 at 80% brightness is around the same brightness as my G4 at 100% brightness. In the sunlight, the G4 needs to be at 100% or the screen is impossible to see. And I have near perfect vision so I know it's not me..

I think my phone is eating battery.. it can't be possible that a 3,000MaH battery drains this quickly.

Rti, post more screen shots from 100% down to about 20%.

That battery usage looks terrible.
Have you tried Greenify? Free app. You can try cleaning up everything that is running every time you lock the screen. Might help with rogue apps.
I started using it and my battery life has indeed increased. Since I had processes in the background eating some of it.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

Here's more recent ones.. This is with average screen brightness around 70% entire time. Never once during this battery use was the screen brightness above 90%. This battery use (or lackthereof) consisted of 10 minutes worth of use with GPS high accuracy enabled. 4 or 5 pictures taken without flash. Mostly used the phone for messaging/web browsing/emails and 2 short duration phone calls. Absolutely terrible. I've gotten used to keeping the spare battery with me... This is my 2nd G4 and I had the same battery life on the previous one so I know it's not just a defective phone/battery issue. This phone has not lasted me an entire day in the ~5 months I've owned it. I'll try downloading that suggested app.. Any other suggestions ?

P.S. - I have T-Mobile, and I've noticed often that while receiving messages, the phone will pull data from the network twice - once when it recognizes the incoming message, and again to pull the actual content of the message onto the phone. I almost always receive two sound notifications during this process too, and I had the same issue on my previous G4. Anyone else experiencing the same issue? I'm 100% convinced that this is eating battery life. I've went over this problem with T-Mobile tons of times and their suggestion is to change the SIM card, which has absolutely no effect.

How much screen on time did you have?

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

Between 3.5 to 4 hours if I had to guess
