"global" could be a Verizon thing. On my Verizon G4 the choices are - Global, LTE/CMDA or LTE/GSM/UMTS

Sprint's is the same. It's been that way since the G2. I was told by a Sprint rep to leave it on "Global". I've tried it back and forth between Global and LTE/CDMA with no difference in battery life or signal noticeable.

The reason we presume switching from Global is beneficial, is the possibility of the phone searching for a better GSM signal (which it couldn't use on Vzw or Sprint) when LTE/CDMA is weak. That would keep the radio churning for no actual benefit, and wear down the battery unnecessarily.

It's premature to gather anything from this yet, but so far I've seen no noticable improvement in battery life since switching back to LTE/CDMA from Global.
I'm still scratching my head as to why my battery would get noticeably worse after an FDR.

It's still my opinion that you are only searching for about 2.5% battery life.
I can't remember if you use Lux or auto brightness at all but if you do just a little more screen on time in a more well lit environment where brightness of higher could lead to the reduction in time.
That's happened to me recently. For the past 4 or 5 weeks I have been forcing myself to do cardio outside instead of indoors. When I take a break from my run/jog to walk, I usually pull out my phone. Since it's sunny, the phone quickly goes into 100% brightness. Just 10 or 15 minutes of that a day has taken my normal 5+ hour SOT to 4+ hour SOT. Still good, just not as good as before.

I wonder if there could be a connection to that problem and my battery life. There was no obvious hint that's the case in anything I could see, but I'm interested to find out if the battery suddenly starts gaining ground again. It was the only thing not working properly (at least visibly), and nothing in battery stats gives any himt as to a culprit. We'll see.

I'm contemplating doing my first FDR on the G4 this evening, as my device has been running quite hot the past two weeks. I certainly hope a software update from VzW is in the mix, but will try this for now. This will also mark the first time I've used LG Backup. To be on the extra safe side, I've also made a Backup with the My Backup Pro app. I am still contemplating on rooting my VS986 one day, but will probably wait until after the next software update. Overall, I am still quite pleased with the phone.

LG G4 H815 performance, lag, battery, etc?
I've been searching for my next phone for several months now and I've decided to go with the LG G4. Does anyone have the H815 model so they can comment about its performance, lag, and battery life? I've seen a lot of users complain about UI lag and keyboard lag, but this may be due to carrier bloat that's not relevant to the H815.
Also, battery life during stand-by time seems to be very poor from what I've seen (I'm coming from a Moto G which I could easily pocket for 5 days without worrying about charging it once) - is this due to poor optimization from LG, or from user error due to people not turning off Location Services, background activities, limiting background processes, etc?
I'm ready to pull the trigger, I have a nice black leather H815 sitting in my Amazon shopping cart for $440. Just wondering if I'm about to make a mistake.

I have the H815 in the UK on EE and don't experience any lag at all in anything. Performance is spot on, with a mix of 3,4 and 4+ G throughout a normal day and I move around a lot in my job, I easily last a full day on a single charge although I've just bought an in car QI charger for use in my van.

I just went through a bad period with my H815, lag in SwiftKey for one to three seconds and mostly scrolling several other apps. Pretty annoying when it happens, basically everything just stops for a second or two. Podcasts playing in the background audio glitch like the CPU is busy elsewhere. For me the issue arises a couple days after a restart, so everyone is good for a while but it keeps coming back. I've dealt with that for the last three weeks. Yesterday I took the time to do a full device reset and reload apps from the play store. I also removed my SD card too. Already plume has had trouble scrolling a couple times but I haven't seen other symptoms, but need to give it a couple days.
Despite all that I'm getting about the expected battery life, four hours of screen on time but phone lasts from 5:30am to 8pm no issue, 30% left usually. I charge it through Qi at night. During the worst lag periods there were a couple times it would not charge over night and was either very hot but alive in the morning or just completely dead and off so I missed my wakeup alarm. I haven't had a phone fail to wake me up for a long time, sense back in my iPhone days.
I do seem to have the stagefright patch and the touchscreen fix so that's nice.
I also have a blown earpiece speaker, that might have been my fault for taking it to the rifle range in my pocket but I've never had that problem with other phones.
I have a Moto X pure loaded up in Moto maker and I'm pretty darn close to pulling the trigger. I wish the Z5 was out too, both of them seem to get Android right but the G4 seems like a better phone than the Moto on paper.

I see some occasional stutters on my H815, but the big issue is the Bluedroid timer wakelock that I cannot seem to get rid of. The only fix I have found so far is to turn off bluetooth. It prevents my phone from sleeping at all, but then it will randomly stop the wakelocks as well.

I've only had my phone for a week and a half, but I have not experienced any problems to date. I'm very happy with the purchase.
This is somewhat unrelated to the original question, but I also just received my spare battery and I'm so excited. To be able to quickly put in a new battery and go back to 100% is so convenient and satisfying.

Any update on your battery life? As far as the global issue is concerned, I wonder if location and carrier have any bearing on whether it effects one's battery life. It's possible that the global setting might give BETTER battery life in some situations.

That change hasn't provided anything I can definitely say is a result of the change. Meaning it seems a push. The reasoning for switching from Global has always made logical sense to me, though.
At any rate, it's certainly not noticeably worse on LTE/CDMA

My H815 has been working great for me! I just switched out the stock SMS app yesterday for Textra and HOLY SHIZZLE its much more responsive then stock!!!! I switched it out because stock messaging app on the H815 DOES NOT group together group messages. It sends them individually which was getting on my nerves. I tried Hangouts but it didn't group group message texts either.

I think if we're talking about carrier subsidised phones, we have to consider bloatware and whether they're giving refurbished units.
In my experience, carrier locked phones usually run poorly.
That's why when I got my G4, I wanted it to be unlocked. And so far my phone has been excellent. There was some lag but it went away as soon as I uninstalled some rogue app with a lot of ad/spam riding on it.
With regards to battery just checkout the battery tips. My phone came with a battery kit so I always have a spare.
