LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: Battery problem?

I HATE my T-mobile app every other phone i could disable it but just like you I can't disable it D: I think I may have to return this phone if it doesnt get better soon.
Meh, worst case scenario is you root the phone. I will admit, the battery drain is rapid and carrying around the extra promo battery isn't worth it. Still the best phone I've used. There will be better battery saving tutorials in the future, I'm sure.

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

I’ve had my G4 for just a bit over a week now. I can get a full day out of one charge but I’m not getting much screen on time during that. For my most recent cycle my screen on time was only 54m 7s using only 6% of the battery. Cell standby was the next highest use at 7% with Android System taking 41% of the battery during this time. Is this normal or is something running wild in the background? Under Android System the CPU total was only 1h 42m 53s but the keep awake time was 3h 48m 12s. This seems high, is there any way to find out what is causing this? Is this the cause of so much battery drain to the system?

I get 5hrs SOT all the time, what browser are you using? I canned Chrome and went with CM Browser, a nice lightweight browser which is very kind to your battery.

Re: Battery problem?

I think part of it is this crap app called t mobile my account. On previous phones I was able to disable this app. Unfortunately, it came pre-loaded on the G4. It collects your account activity like every minute. I hate this thing.

Debloater Tool, bruh.

Re: Battery problem?

Since the last update, v10e battery has been poor, stats read 36% screen, 20% android system, and three steps down another android system with 9% any ideas why?

Re: LG G4 SOT

Still having a +- good battery around here. greenify only and no root.

Re: FDR and Battery Life

2 more weeks have passed now (more than a month since FDR overall) and clearly I'm not getting my pre-FDR 3 missing hours of overall battery life back.

In fact, the overall average is even a bit lower than last time I posted, at 17 H 6 M. Current SoT average is 5 H 56 M.

So, the all-correcting FDR stole 3 or so hours overall, and 20 minutes SoT from my battery life.

Weird.

Re: T-Mobile My Account App - Battery Drain!

Come on, guys. Use the damn Debloater Tool.

Just found this issue in my g3,

I imagine that I need to root to debloat? Do you have a preference on roots or Debloater Tool?

Such aa bummer because I bought this phonethinking I could deal with the minimum bloatware but this is my #1 battery offender now

You can disable without rooting. You would need root to completely remove the desired apps.

Re: FDR and Battery Life

I'm seeing the same thing after a FDR I performed last week. I had done a FDR after Kit Kat and had very noticeable battery improvement. I expected the same with this FDR on Lollipop, but it is worse than it was before. My phone was set to Global as well, I've changed to LTE/CDMA and will see if it improves any thing for me here in Central Oregon.

Antutu battery tester and PCMark Battery test

Hey guys,
I have recently purchased the LG G4, and I`m generally really happy with it.
I was getting a feeling, however, that my battery is draining a bit too fast (after reading all of the different comments and topics).
I did a factory reset and ran both pcmark and antutu battery tests.
1. In PCmark I got 5.51, which seems to be the average according to their website. However, anandtech got 6.66, which is.. Impressive? What did u guys get?
2. In antutu I got 3796. I didnt see anywhere posting their results online, so your feedback and results are more than welcome.

Thanks for your help and cooperation.

Re: Antutu battery tester and PCMark Battery test

Some people way over analyze some things.

Battery life is subjective. Try the phone yourself to see if it meets your needs.

The grass won't be greener if you swap out to a Samsung device.

I posted previously about losing about 3 hours of overall battery life and about 20 minutes of overall SoT after a FDR a while back. It didn't recover after more than a month post-FDR. 3 hours lost for no apparent reason.

Now I'm down another 2.5 -3 hours since the Verizon update last week. Maybe that dip is the "battery settling in after an update" effect (I still wonder is a real thing).

I've noticed on a number of occasions members and guests posting that their battery life on whatever phone they use has worsened, and sometimes so badly that they are considering a replacement battery, after a reset or system update. Assuming that these instances are not just coincidence, I can't think of any obvious explanation. I suspect that it would take a far deeper understanding of how software, devices and battery work, than nearly all of us have.
I admire your scientific approach though KP and hope you crack it eventually. :)

Edit: Last year, I stopped using my G3 as a daily driver for a month or two, only using it at home on wifi etc during that time. When I resumed using it as a daily driver, I noticed a marked reduction in battery life compared to what I'd been used to before. There had been no changes to settings, no software updates, during that period. Even now, I can't think of any obvious explanation.
It's almost as if changes to routines can do something bad to batteries.
