LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: Lg g4 battery life & performance... Is it still worth my money ?

Performance is really good. Not the fastest flagship, but it's still very snappy with minimal lag.

Never had any heating issues.

Software experience is pretty good. I never used most of the extra features and prefer stock, but LG definitely improved the UI and I think it's better than older Touchwiz.

What phone is faster? This is the fastest phone on the market, at least my G4 is. I have no lag at all, thank goodness.

Like others have said, battery life isn't the best, but it's offset by being removable. If you don't mind adding some extra bulk, you can buy larger aftermarket batteries so it'll last longer on a charge.

It also charges pretty fast on the OEM charger. It does seem LG was too aggressive in my view on controlling temps, as charging slows quite a bit while using it. I have a QC2.0 certified charger as well, which charges a little faster than the OEM with the screen off, but the phone doesn't fully utilize it with the screen on. Again, it's due to LG's programming in my opinion. It seems to kill charge rates at about 94°F, and QC2.0 easily pushes it higher than that, causing the phone to throttle it. Unless you plan to turn the screen off when charging, I actually wouldn't suggest a QC2.0 charger for this phone.

I have the Mugen 6200 mah extended battery and I'm telling you, it lasts forever. I'm getting over 12 hours SOT with it. Granted, it makes the phone bigger and heavier, but it's worth it to me.

That's pretty much what I said, but not everyone will have a 2nd battery.

True not everyone will but if you know yourself to be a power users why wouldn't you buy one???? First thing I did...

Outside of phablets with massive batteries, what phones have significantly better battery life than the G4?

G4 battery life is pretty mediocre. The Note 4 and Note 5, S6 edge and edge+, Xperia z5 and z5c, Nexus 6, Huawei P8, Oppo R7, OnePlus One, 5.5" idol 3, GS5 and One m8 all have significantly better battery life without using a massive battery (compared to G4). Some even use a smaller battery than G4.

Oppo r7 plus & huawei ascend mate 7 . Both are 6 inch fablets with massive battery (4100 mah) . R7 have vook rapid charging( 75% in 30 minutes ) compared to mate 7 & oppo is dam costly with mediocre specs

I think Samsung galaxy s6 edge have very poor battery life compared to lg g4. It's have only 2600 mah battery

This is true on paper, but in real life, I don't know what can beat it. The G4 is optimized really well.

I feel the same. I'm not quite as concerned as being the fastest processor or having the most RAM, so long as it's optimized well and runs smooth. To which the G4 does.

Nexus 6, Note 4/5= phablet

S6 = really? Every single review spoke to the 8-hour battery life. Has there been that much software improvement since release?

Xperia, Huawei, OPPO, OnePlus, Idol = not available in the US in any significant way.

M8 = sure, battery, but everything else about that phone was a terrible compromise.

If the Nexus 6 and Note 4/5 are phablets then we should also consider the G4 a phablet. The N6 isn't much bigger and the Note 4/5 are pretty much the same size. They also get much better battery life with 3220 and 3000 mAh batteries.

The S6 edge and edge+ generally rate very well in reviews and battery life tests.

The idol 3 can be purchased directly from Amazon. The OnePlus One is available without an invite from their official site. The z5, z5c, p8 and r7 can all be purchased online and aren't any more difficult to get than the latest Nexus phones.

The only major compromise with the m8 is the camera. Build quality, excellent front facing speakers, sense and audio quality are the main advantages the m8 has over the G4.

It might sound like I don't like the G4, but I actually think it's a borderline great phone. However, battery life is not one of the selling points for the G4. There are many very good phones that can be used in US that aren't significantly bigger than the G4 and get much better battery life.

Gotta love opinions lol

Re: Lg g4 battery life & performance... Is it still worth my money ?

It does, but unfortunately the Turbo 2 is a slight step down from the original Turbo in terms of battery life.

Boo!

While I left for the G4 to get the camera, I also was more than fed up with Moto at the same time. It seems headed in the wrong direction.

I really did love the original Turbo. If I could've had the G4 camera in that...

The G4 is plenty fast. For my money, it's just as fast as the Turbo and Turbo 2. The issue is more that the G4 touchscreen has all kinds of issues. After using Motorola phones that always just work, it's hard to use a phone that is so unpredictable and glitchy.

Re: Lg g4 battery life & performance... Is it still worth my money ?

I've been using Motorola phones since 1995 with the MicroTAC Elite, StarTAC, StarTAC CDMA, v60ic, RAZR, Droid 1, Droid RAZR HD Maxx and basically Motorola was always the best when it came to RF Performance as they had been making radios forever, their camera had always sucked compared to the competition. The Droid RAZR HD I got on November 1, 2012. And basically the battery got swollen on November 1, 2013 so I called Verizon Wireless to get a replacement under my Total Protection Plan. Every 5 months after that, the battery would get swollen again and each time they send a replacement, it will always take 6-7 replacements before I get one that is good as there is always something wrong with the screen or with the battery life with nothing running even in safe mode so finally I got the G4 because it has the MicroSD slot AND the replaceable battery as Motorola basically went away from the MicroSD card with the Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra and later the Droid Turbo. The Droid Turbo2 made by Lenovo owned Motorola seems to have brought the MicroSD slot back and also a higher than G4 Megapixel camera but how the camera performs is another issue even though it is a Sony this time around. Every phone that reaches my hands will be slow by the time I get all my apps loaded on it which is 739 apps, greenify will fix the problem as basically play store would not be able to download and install as it ran out of resources even when the things aren't running. For whatever reason, the Motorola Xoom tablet with the same apps doesn't have the problems even though it has less ram.
