Light leakage from ports on bottom of EVO.

Doesn't really fix the problem though.i haver had my evo for 2 weeks now and what started as a small sport under the home key has progressed along the entire bottom edge of the phone and I can quite easily catch my fingernail without any effort. I have a new evo waiting for me at home, I hope it its better. I don't want to go through 3 before I get a good one like I did my pre

Light leakage mean screen seperation?

I could not answer this question to a few buddies of mine solid enough. Because I honestly didn't know the correct answer. Does light leakage mean screen is separating?

I'd like to know this as well. I have some light leakage at the bottom of my screen, below the button row where the top of the phone meets the side of the phone. Is doesn't bother me that much, but I'm worried it'll get worse. Should I be concerned?

I read in a review that the Evo has a slight problem with light leakage. I dont remember them mentioning that it would be a bad thing but I could be wrong. I know this may not help much but I figured I would at least let you know.

I hope not. I'm at day 28 and I'm still debating on whether to swap it out or not. My screen has leakage under home and search and very little under menu and back. I also noticed I can push down on the left/bottom and it lowers but doesn't rise above the bezel.. yet.

It does not mean screen seperation, when they glued the back of the top screen to the actual display, the glue wasn't spread out instead, it was spotted on. Thus, what you're seeing is the light leaking in between the glue and though the bottom. This has nothing to do with the screen seperating.

Yeah that's what I thought... Thanks for all the replies guys.

See what CoryBantic said.... lets just say it's a little quality control issue!?!?

That is exactly what mine was doing!!!!

Doesn't bother you!?!?!?

Drove me nuts!!!!

So i fixed it......

Get some supper glue, a really thin sewing needle and a steady hand. I build model planes as a hobby(second income) and sell them to airports and museum's. For the really small fine detail stuff I use this method all the time.

Squeeze out just a tiny drop of supper glue on to something it will bead up on(like an old plate). Turn on your screen so you can see the light leak. Now dip just the very end(the pointy end) of the needle into the bead of supper glue and give the needle a slight twist, it'll break the surface tensions on the needle and give it just a slight coating of glue on it. Now for the tricky part.... just lightly poke 2 or 3 spots where the light is leaking through. Now lightly press the screen down to make the light leak go away and hold it together for a few seconds so the glue sets.

Light leaks gone now.

I thought about super glue as a fix before I went with my own solution. My problem with it was that if you screw up, you can mar your Evo as super glue doesn't wipe off so cleanly. Also, should you ever need a screen replacement, super glue will make it a lot tougher. I opted for silicone instead and posted my technique on another thread here; almost idiot proof :)

I have slight light leakage, but no screen separation. It does not bother me, though. This is a common problem with the housings of a lot of electronics. I will probably glue it as well if I find the time on a rainy day, but that is not likely. haha

With my awesome coordination I would probably glue my hand together ( I have in the past), maybe I can find someone with steadier hands to glue my screen.

I'd be afraid to glue anything in case I did have to take it back. I still have 1.5 days left but I really don't want to end up with a refurb 002 unit bleh. I noticed most of the light leakage is from the buttons at the bottom. By this I mean in the dark when those lights click on you can see light leak along the bottom and up both the left and right sides of the screen as well.

In daylight you can't really see it at all which is great but it does make me concerned. Did I also mention I'm a horrible decision maker at times?

I don't know about you guys but, I greatly welcome the light-leakage. What could be more convenient than my ports glowing in the dark? Makes those sleepy-time charges that much more stress free >.<

HA! I don't mind it in the port bay but I do under the buttons and around the glass seam.

Doesn't really bother me, my case hides mine.

Just curious if yours got worse or has the same amount. I just posted about my Sprint run-a-round with CS because mine started as just a hairline bleed of light under my home button but now spans all of the buttons and up the sides.

don't have one yet

white evo light leakage?

Haven't seen this anywhere...does anyone with a white Evo have light leakage? No problems yet with mine, but curious if anyone past their 30-day has seen any issues.

nope no light leakage on the white evo 4gs. all the problems that was associated with the 0002's and early 0003 were fixed. I got my white evo when best buy released them, before release date, and it's still going strong. No leakage or problems, you'll be fine.
