Looks like our fearless leader got a response on the reboot issue from Verizon.

I just had my first random restart after the update. After the reboot, the keyboard has become laggy and the app drawer scrolling is also jerky.
And one more thing... Immediately after the reboot I did a battery pull. Battery level was at 82% at the time. When the phone powered up after the battery pull, the battery level was at 92%!
So, apparently the battery indicator was faulty before battery pull. Now I am wondering how do I know when to trust the battery level indicator.

The ONLY time it doesn't reboot is when plugged in, either via USB to PC, wall charger, or car charger. It seems if it's getting juice it doesn't reboot.

Mine was plugged in to the wall charger when the phone decided to reboot.

I was rooted, then decided to unroot, and installed the update. I have stayed unrooted, and after the download I can honestly say I have NEVER had a random reboot. I hope Verizon and HTC fixes this random rebooting thing for all of you though. I am just wondering why this RR thing doesn't affect everyone?

I did a manual request for update and I have not seen any reboots since the OTA was available nor have I seen any worse performance in battery life. I just got my TB a week ago. Non-Rooted. I have ~200 app's installed. No Auto Task Killers....however I do have Juice Defender running. I have been monitoring with SystemPanel's monitoring functions all enabled. We deal with similar issues at my electronics firm, regarding FPGA's and clock edges...I'm guessing they don't have good enough constraints and some FPGA's have problems and other do not.....just depends on the luck of the draw.

So strange how different the reboots are. It's 100% for me that if I plug it in the phone won't reboot, strange that it doesn't seem to have the same stability when plugged in for everyone. Who knows what's really causing this, let's just hope they get it fixed soon.

When my phone is plugged into the wall charger it decides on its own to power down and not come back on till i wake up late for work and manually turn it on myself............................... Im getting the f'ing DroidX2 if the 3rd phone they shipped to me does the same bull crap...

I had one random reboot a day for two days after installing the update. I've since been keeping my tb on WiFi except for when I go to bed, which is when I switch to 3g, and the past few mornings I've woken up to a powered-down phone. I guess I'll try keeping WiFi on at night, IDK.

This little update quirk testing my patience. (And mine's not even bad compared to what some of you are reporting.) For all the problems and slowness my Storm 2 had, it never spontaneously rebooted or powered down. (Thank god, because the thing took FOREVER to start up again.) It just sucks that I basically got my tb the day before the update came out, so I've literally had only one problem-free day since I got it.

ETA: The first time I tried to write this post, on 3g, my phone shut down mid-reply. I've got it back on WiFi now. Le sigh.

Those saying their phone has never rebooted are either not noticing or are in denial. There probably are not a few magic devices that are immune. Most likely, the user doesn't want to admit it or hasn't noticed.

Has anyone looked at the circumstances under which the download was done? Some had trouble getting it and had to force 1X mode, some got it with 3G and others with 4G.

Is there any possibility that the network method could have caused something to go wrong? I have not had a single reboot as a result of the OTA update and I was on 3G at the time it was downloaded and applied.

I got the update over 3G and have had rebooting issues.

My uptime under Battery is at 170 hours. I have not seen a reboot issue yet with my phone.

Mine has only rebooted at my parents house in the boonies where the signal is flaky. Here in Raleigh/Garner, I've yet to have a random reboot. My uptime is only affected by flashing roms

4 reboots today. 2 during business calls. Updated OTA 2 days after it was pushed out and have had 3-6 reboots a day since. I'll be swapping it out for something else if it is still unusable this time next week. Great phone; when it is working. :'(

I haven't seen a random reboot at all, but I am on a custom rom and I flashed the new radio myself. it's also hard not to notice your phone rebooting with that loud thunder every time your phone reboots! I manually rebooted my phone once in the office and definitely got a few looks from coworkers. Uptime also tells me that it hasn't been rebooted since I manually did so myself last night.

I also haven't noticed any huge battery issues and I play wwf and wordfeud with friends all day along with the usual texting and such and the battery lasts from 6am until about 10pm. pretty much on par with my fascinate. so far I'm loving this phone!

My phone has only rebooted once since the OTA and that was last Friday. My up time is 145 hours right now. I check this a couple of times a day to see if I am missing any reboots.

Verizon is sending me a new one too. I'd wait for another update, but I need a stable phone for business. This will also be my third TB, first one had a bad volume rocker (no down volume) and Verizon replaced that one with no trouble. Today when I called, Verizon offered me a new TB without even asking me to do a factory reset.

My TB has never seen 4g. I'm using LTE OnOff to save battery. Also, oddly the missing thunderclap noise at startup returned after I pulled and re-installed the battery. I think mine is only rebooting when using data, but if it reboots silently in my pocket I guess I would not know it.

My first Tbolt was constantly (once a day minimum) rebooting. I wasn't real concerned until I was in the middle of a 911 call and it occurred. That pissed me off and then some.
Called VZW. They had me do a factory reset (after essentially telling me they were sorry about the problem, but it wasn't their problem, etc... )
Reboots continued.
Pulled SD Card per VZW
Reboots continued
Waited for the OTA to come out. Applied it.
Reboots continued.
Called VZW again - they sent me a new (refurb) unit. Lady also said she would follow up in a few days to see how things were going.
Started it up. OTA installed.
Reboot.
Not more than a minute after the reboot, as the phone was just getting service, it rang. It was the lady from VZW checking on me.
We had a "nice" chat about the problem. She acknowledged that "something has gone wrong" system wide with these and the OTA, and says she will email and/or call me once they have a definitive answer.

That's where I stand. 250.00 (with contract) is in their pockets, and my Tbolt reboots to the point it's not reliable. There was either a major quality issue with parts in the phone, or the software/firmware has a huge hole/bug in it.

I notice that the reboots happen anytime, not during any specific task. They occurred on the "bare" phone as much as on a fully loaded up and configured one. The one common thread I have found in almost all cases - the battery may show "X%" .. but after the reboot, it's usually about 20% less than X... ?

The most common thread I have seen is that poor signal, whether 3G, 4G, or standard 1x EVDO, might play some part in this. I have 4g off, and WIFI usually connected, and the reboots happen. So My phone line is always on 1x or 3G - never 4g. My data is normally wifi. Dunno if that adds any "narrowing" focus...
