Low Memory Warning keeps popping up, how to stop?

I went into Astro and cleared out some junk, old app folders, wallpapers, and the awful music and video that Verizon/Moto puts on your phone. I cleared about 300MB in total and the warning went away.

SD Maid can find and delete duplicate files, left behind files, and a lot more. I use the Pro version, and it works great.

I had this same exact problem since i got the ICS ota i would get the message at least 50 times a day...tried all the same things to get rid of the low memory message and no luck...downloaded the SD Maid Pro app and checked for duplicate files and cleaned all my apps and so far no low memory message..it has only been about 10 min though lol

i have to admit i did pay for SD Maid Pro and i am pleasantly surprised. i was able to get rid of the Verizon installed bloatware apps like the damned NFL games and whatnot, amazed how much space i cleared. will post a screenshot when i get a moment.

There is a free version, but I think you do have to be rooted.

I ran into the exact same problem as the OP and was able to solve it with SD Maid Pro, like many people suggested.

The following are my observations from this experience:
(1) I've been using my Android phone for a while but never had this problem prior to the ICS update. There may have been a coincidental factor, but I suspect it's still ICS that's causing it.
(2) Why is Android leaving behind all the junk when an app is removed? It should be looked at by Google. Between my iPad and my wife's iPhone, a memory problem of this nature (caused by remnants of a removed app) never happened in iOS.

I was getting the same warnings. Figured out the offending app was Google Play Music. I had it set to cache music and for some reason every time I streamed a song it attempted to download the entire album. To make it more insidious it was set to download only on wifi. Being on the road all day listening to music once I got home it would try to download hundreds of songs. I have over 18GB of music on the cloud and after several weeks of this the download process totally tied my phone up in knots. For some other unknown reason even though I had it set to download into the SD card this cache download would go into internal storage.

Solution was to go into the app settings and uncheck the automatically cache setting then I had to go into download queue and uncheck every flipping album set to download. Must have been a hundred of them. There is a special corner of hell set aside for the programmer that come up with this one. May he sit in a hot place and uncheck files for eternity.

I was having the same problem until i realized that when i started getting the problem was after a few nights of leaving the phone playing pandora, so i went to my apps and erased the catch and also erased alot of saved podcast on my Pocket catcher. hope this helps because it help me since i did this i have not seen the notification.

I dont think the problem has very much to do with the particular applications. I had the same despering warning for weeks. I uninstalled many applications and nothing. Cleared cache, browsing history and about anything that could have something to do with it. It might have to do with the applications' uninstalling system or something that deletes the files. Possible reasons: applications not properly uninstalled, uninstalling process interrupted or SD card not properly removed while applications from SD were actively running in the phone memory. Some files/memory sectors could get stuck in some kind of state that generates the false low memory warning. The issue is temporary solved after reseting the phone. I wish I could track any installing, uninstalling and running activity happening in the phone and analize after.

Honestly I don't really want to rush thinking about some major bugs (like flagging as free some disk memory that isn't actually free) that google left in the android.

Check out Visual Voicemail Plus by PhoneFusion. I found a setting in the app under "Notifications and Sound", called "Disable space warning". Kind of weird that a Voicemail app has this function, but it's awesome! Also, you can disable "SDCard not found" notifications and enable an "Ignore carrier voicemail" option, for those who use Google Voice.

The "Plus" version is free to use, but it does require registration. Just use a secondary email for ads. You don't need to purchase.

Been suffering through the warnings, too, and could not figure out the problem until today. For me, it turned out that Audible audio book files downloaded were in internal memory, but not showing up under any tracked category (not audio files, not pictures, not apps, etc.). I tried several apps designed to move/track/clear clutter and none of the ones I used found these files.

Even though the Audible app and most of the files attributed to the app were on my SD card, the audio books themselves were basically hiding on my phone.

Even if you don't have Audible, there may be another app that downloads/uses proprietary file types that hide on your phone. In my case this was almost 5gb of data!

I also do have same problem. You can clear the data and cache to increase the size of phone memory. And also if the problem is displayed only when you want to download and install the application then first uninstall updates of default apps like facebook, YouTube etc. Then download your application and move it to SD Card memory and then again update the default apps.

i think the problem lays in cache partition !! ( not the normal cache but data that droid stores for convenience )

if you have installed some storage script then this problem is common to occur. i get this problem alot i use to clear dalvik cache and some time cache from the system using root browser.

i still wonder if that's a bug or something, however hope this helps !!

hit like/thanks if cleaning dalvik from recovery helps.. (you probable do backup before performing that)
