I just got the droid turbo after switching from an iPhone. I use Google hangouts as the default messenger. Whenever I get a text or MMS the entire message shows up in the pull down menu. I don't want this. I just want to know that I have a message. Does anyone know how to change this?

Noticed a bug today: I turned my wifi off 3 hours ago just to try and go mobile data for a bit. In battery usage it says wifi has been on/active the entire time.

Nothing to do with wifi, but I notice that it takes longer to power the phone on (if it is plugged in and charging) than if it is not plugged in and charging. Not a big deal, but interesting.

Thank you for that. The issue I am having is that I would say "Okay droid turbo" wait for the beep "what's up?" Then I get google search results for what's up. It works fine if I unlock the phone and give the same command string from the home screen. But if I already have the phone unlocked in my hand, chances are I know what the notifications are.

Ah, don't wait for the beep, just say the command right after your launch phrase. Also, "what's up" can be problematic for soon people, apparently, so try just "read notifications".

Lastly, in the Google app (or in Google now, same thing), scroll to the bottom, tap the menu control bottom right, tap settings, voice, OK Google detection, and turn off the feature "from any screen". It may be that Google now is taking the search request away from moto voice.

In settings / wifi, tap the menu control bottom right, then advanced, and turn off "scanning always available". See if that works next time. Scanning always available keeps the wifi radio on for location purposes.

When I twist to shake to launch the camera and then snap a photo, it doesn't take a photo of what I took. It takes a photo of wherever I move my camera after that (I.e. delayed and blurred).

Tried to find the answer to this lame problem on here. No luck, so here goes.. Does everyone else's DT's youtube app only have the resolution option of 720p max? Free the pixels!

Mine's the same way. The app on my old phone would also only got to 720, but that was the resolution of the phone. So it could be YouTube trying to help save days usage.

Unless I'm missing something, you can't show a video in a resolution any higher than what it was recorded in....

I was trying it with videos I was able to select 1080 on the computer.

Is this different from any other phone or does the YouTube mobile app only display 720p as it's highest resolution?

Hi All,

New to these forums. I've had an overall pleasant experience with the Turbo. It's my first Android phone, so still getting used to certain things.

One issue I have had is that one of my friends receives my text messages, however I am not receiving his responses. He does have an iPhone. But he has not gotten a new phone nor a new number. Anyone know of anything that can cause this, with just one of my friends? I have other contacts who do have iPhones and receive their messages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you previously had an iphone he needs to delete the text thread and change the contact info for you to text instead of messages.

StormnNJ, thank you so much, that worked! I really appreciate the help.

I do have a couple more questions that are related to Contacts in my Turbo.

1.) When I was at the Verizon store, they brought over my contacts from my iPhone. Not sure if the employee did something wrong, but all of my contacts came over duplicated. For example, Bob would show up as (123) 456-7891. However, then he would show up as 1234567891. I found a solution was to go into "People", click on the contact, click on Settings > Edit and then Settings > Join to combine the duplicates. I thought that solved the issue. However, when I go into my "Phone" program, and click "All Contacts", I see the duplicate number under each of my contacts still. Anyone know of a solution for this issue?

2.) I downloaded UberSync for Facebook to get pictures added to my contacts. Unfortunately I accidentally brought in all of my Facebook friends into my contacts, which I definitely did not want to do. Does anyone know of a way to undo this action? Basically just strip out all contacts that were added to my phone from Facebook, and just leave the original contacts I had in the phone?

Had the phone for a few days and the black launch screen isn't working properly. When it senses the approach or I wave my hand the whole screen briefly flashes white. Whenever there is a notification...FLASH. If I have it in the console or my lap and while driving FLASH. In a dark room or driving at night it is like a camera flash(sucks when it's on the nightstand). Additionally it gets stuck when I try to wake up the phone with the power button. It often takes several pushes to get the phone to the home screen.
The problem has come and gone a couple times. When it is happening I restart and the screen stays black during the animation of the startup but I can hear the music.

Hello so I have had this happen twice now. I set my alarm the night before via plug my phone in to the charger. Wake up on my own in a panic, because my alarm didn't go off. Look at my phone to see the time and it shows the time when I tilt it like its on, unplug the phone and race to the closet to get ready because I'm late. I go to unlock my phone to text my boss and it's off! I had to press the button for about 30 seconds, wouldn't turn on .... So I tried it again and second time after about 8 seconds it turned on and was fully charged. So late to work twice now both times it was 7:00 am Monday and my alarms are set for 6:00 am 7 days a week. HELP!!

There must be something that's freezing the phone. I hate to suggest it, but if this is repeatable, I'd try a factory data reset and see if it recurs, just to rule out hardware failure. I'd also suspect that it's a problem with an app, but the tricky thing is figuring out which one.

You might also want to just invest in a regular alarm clock, one that you know won't have an issue with failure like that.
