MR2 OTA Update (1.66.605.2) (Leak)

darn it I just rooted yesterday oh well it won't be too long before someone figures it out.

Figures what out?

I posted the full ruu for non rooters, plus roms for rooters.

Looks figured out to me.

I have not seen this addressed yet. Verizon originally allowed free Wi-Fi Hotspot from the ThunderBolt through May 15th, and then that was extended until June 15th. This seems like interesting timing on the TB update. Does this update remove / eliminate / cancel the free Wi-Fi hotspot?

Could someone who has installed the update check their TB to see if the free Wi-Fi Hotspot is sill active?

It let me enable it and didn't warn me that I would be charged or anything so hopefully it is still free!

Seems to still work okay, I activated it but don't have a device to try it on

I tried this. Put the Renamed File on the SD Card then powered off and held down power and Vol Down. The White screen came up. It quickly said something about the file, but then didn't do anything. I selected the recovery option, and now I have a black screen with picture of a phone with Red Triangle and ! in the middle of the Triangle.

Did I just brick it? What do i Do?

For those who are worried about losing data from wiping the phone.... Download MyBackup Pro. Backs up apps, call logs, texts, etc..

My phone sat on the white screen for awhile, didnt look like it was really doing anything but it was. I hope you didn't mess it up!

It does NOT backup game data. Learned that the hard way when I did a factory reset. The app is actually very misleading. The things that it backs up are free through google (apps, contacts, etc.). The only thing you would use it for are texts and settings. To me, the app is worthless (but I paid $5 for it). I would not recommend it.

I did a battery pull and it booted up fine. (those BB Skillz coming into play:p)

I named the file "PG05IMG.zip" so I think it was on the SD Card as PG05IMG.zip.zip. I renamed it, copied it over and am trying again.

It is now sitting on the white screen and I will just leave it there.

It is a problem if I connect to wall outlet power?

You (most likely) did not brick it. You did not, however, want to boot in to RECOVERY. You should flash the file in HBOOT (white screen). I'd pull the battery and try to start over.

It should detect the PG05IMG file, and then ask if you want to perform the update, or something to that affect, and ask you to press vol+ to start. (If I recall correctly).

Once again, make sure that if Windows is set to "not display extensions for known file types" that you have not accidentally named the file "PG05IMG.zip.zip" (can't have the extra .zip in there).

With Root access, it can do a bit more than that -- but for me Titanium is still the way to go to back up apps and data (again, if you have root).

Holy Dumb Ass!

What A noob! I totally downloaded the wrong file. (don't ask)

Downloading correct file now...

LOL! I'm worried that I'm going to do something wrong, but here goes nothing!

There are so many ads on the download sites....

The file should be named "PG05IMG_Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.66.605.2_Radio_1.39.00.0510w_NV_8k_1.41_9k_1.64_release_191132_signed.zip" and it is 430,432 kb.

Make sure you have that and you are good. I downloaded an .exe for some crap-ware. (I Know, I know)

Last line of a short description and the only time it mentions apk data...

Users who have a rooted phone: You can backup apk+data as well as market links!

I know, I just realized it the other day too when I was giving out bad info., but fact is that it's there, and clear, and NOT misleading and is an amazing app. Highly recommended for root users.
