MR2 OTA Update (1.66.605.2) (Leak)

There are so many ads on the download sites....

The file should be named "PG05IMG_Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.66.605.2_Radio_1.39.00.0510w_NV_8k_1.41_9k_1.64_release_191132_signed.zip" and it is 430,432 kb.

Make sure you have that and you are good. I downloaded an .exe for some crap-ware. (I Know, I know)

That's actually quite frightening. I just 'flashed' it (don't know if I used that right...) and it's loading!

New boot animation; looks cool!
And new 3G symbol, and boy is it ugly.
MyVerizon! Finally.
City ID is back.... and it's gone.

So far, it seems like a good update.

Last line of a short description and the only time it mentions apk data...

I know, I just realized it the other day too when I was giving out bad info., but fact is that it's there, and clear, and NOT misleading and is an amazing app. Highly recommended for root users.

That disclaimer was not there when I bought the app, which was not recently.

Installed on stock phone. Seems real legit. Comes with new data usage widget from VZW. Never had 4G problems before in Atlanta, and everything's still running great with this update.

Data Usage widget is probably for when they drop the Unlimited Data Plan and force everyone onto tiered plans

did anyone else notice the new boot aninmation, the volume is not as load and at the end instead of a stormy backround its just black with writting

Looks like Verizon figured out the Thunderbolt problems and is taking good care of it. I sent my Thunderbolt back for those exact problems. Loved the phone but the few problems just bugged the heck out of me. Glad to see they are fixed and this just makes a good phone great again. Big props to Verizon.

Anyone else reading these posts with dread of seeing the reboot pop its ugly head up again?

Does anybody know if these fixes will make their way into the dasBAMF gingerbread ROM?

My thunderbolt is NOT rooted. Would you guys recommend that I download this now or wait for the "official" update to be released? I've had the reboot problem but its only happened 2-3 times over the past couple days.

Depends how bad you want it I guess and if you want to recover all your settings when you're done. I had to do it today because I'm leaving for a long road trip tomorrow and didn't want to chance not having reliable navigation.

I understand it wipes out the data, but what about settings, especially Exchange ActiveSync server/password settings? Do I need to write those down to re-enter or will the settings remain?

Thanks.

Yes. It does a factory reset, so you have to recreate accounts and all.

There is a File I noticed called "TetherGuard" is this possibly installed to prevent the free tethering?

I am rooted and updated with this the day it was avialable... NO issues at all.. now I am running the best rom (dasBAMF 2.0-5)... seriously, my phone is running better than ever :) screw waiting for the OTA. plus im rooted anyways

so, what's the best way for a non-rooted person with the mr2 update to roll back the update? is the only option to root, then use an older stock rom?

Can anyone confirm if there is still good audio on the video playback with this update?
