My Only Hesitation is Battery Life

I can handle a little less than the Note 7 or S7E since it can be swapped. That said, it needs to be close. Very curious about this

Yes, that is a concern... but the fact that the battery can be replaced is just wonderful (from my point of view).

Same here. Having to carry around a spare battery, sounds about as much fun as carrying around two phones.

If you're a moderate to heavy user I doubt you'll get a full day with the V20 on a single charge. Battery life will be improved over the V10 but you won't get near what the S7/N7 phones can do on a single charge. It's a trade-off...battery may not be as good but you're getting the ability to swap out for a fresh battery. I know for me there have been times where I didn't have access to an outlet and needed to charge my phone and LG phones have been a lifesaver in those situations!

When it comes down to screen time, what are we looking at here? If I can get anywhere upwards of 4 hours SOT during a single day of use, then I would be happy.

With my V10, most days I had 5+ hours SOT with 15 hours uptime. Some days I had 6 hours SOT. I would have to go back and look but I'm pretty sure I also had days where up time was 20+ hours and 4 hours SOT.

All of that was very similar to my Note 7.

With improved and more efficient SoC and a slightly larger battery than the V10, I expect the V20 to get very similar results.

Thanks.

You can't really be disappointed with that kind of battery life. It will be nice being able to swap the battery on the fly after rocking it for 4+ hours and just starting off from new again!
I definitely miss those days!

Swapping batteries means you have double the life, meaning this is a non-issue. It takes seconds to swap the battery out and that gives you a full charge.

How so? It's slow slim that you don't even notice it in a pocket.

The alternative is carrying around a bulky power bank or charger.

This is probably a stupid question, but I assume the LG V10 battery cannot be used in the V20, correct?

My V10 was very similar is SOT and uptime to my Note 7. I expect nothing less from the V20.

What kind of use? That seems to defy reviews from sites that compare and the hardware. V10 has a smaller battery, two LCD displays, higher powered DACs and a more power hungry 808. Initial reviews not too kind on battery life of the V20, but love everything else. The reviews in fact ding the battery life, but point out the swap-able battery. Seems little gain to come from boxed units and the Nougat improvements are sleep mode and not much better than the already good Marshmallow.

The reason I ask about use is the one big issue about the Note 7 is weak radio reception for LTE and slightly power hungry wifi. Even the wifi runs warm on the Note 7. Note 7 LTE though is 8 to 10 dBm weaker than the Note 4 and that is significant and huge to battery life.

Seems that is why such big differences with battery life of people with the Note 7. Using LTE with the Note 7 in weak areas drains the battery faster and due to the weak reception, there are more Note 7 weak areas. Heck, even the wifi oddly drains more battery on the Note 7.

Apparently the V20 has good radio reception, so could see the V20 defy the hardware specs and get better battery life in some situations than the Note 7.

3 email accounts, 1 gmail, 2 outlook, all set to push
Lux for auto brightness
Location set to GPS only and always on
Mix of WiFi and cell, WiFi always on
Between Twitter, Slickdeals, AC, and various other apps I probably get 100+ notifications a day, not counting e-mail

I don't make any sacrifices in the way I need my phone to function.

The LG high contrast black theme will help battery life.

Nope, but would be cool if it did :) Same power consumption, regardless if all black or all white. AMOLED though actually drains more battery than LCD if all white, but that is rarely an issue and plenty of themes and web theme options to set a black theme, since helps big time with amoled.

The only thing the user can do to reduce battery life on LCD is to reduce the brightness.

All reviews so far have not deviated. Battery life is similar to the V10 and a lot less than the 7E in comparison about 50% less for web as example.

All preproduction reviews.

And since you mentioned that specific web surfing test... The V20 was about 20% better than the V10. I wouldn't call that similar. That's a pretty good improvement.

As for the S7 Edge...i would hope it outperforms the V20 preproduction unit given the S7 Edge has a smaller screen, bigger battery, and that in that test it was using the Exynos, which isn't an option for most people in the US. Not to mention we know the Exynos outperforms the SD820 in just about everything.

Here is a good site that uses weighted results. It is the bottom of the page and you can add devices.

How would there be much difference between pre-release and finals (not seen any review that resulted in much better if any)? The key would be actual LTE reception, since that is the wild card- weak LTE drains quickly.
