Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Does Voicemail Notifications Work?

OP - I wish that your Poll title said something like "New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock Voicemail Notifications Work?

The description for your poll is very clear, but I believe that some people are voting "yes" before reading that you are asking abut the stock voicemail notifications. From what I have read, Visual Voicemail and Google VM work fine, but I don't think that anyone's stock notification is working correctly. For me, if I have voicemails and reboot the phone, I will see the voicemail noticfication. If I listen to the voicemails, the notification won't go away until I reboot again.

Yeah...I wanted to change that but after it was submitted I couldn't change the title. Only the text which I changed. Or can I somehow edit the title?

Yes. One moment.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Does Voicemail Notifications Work?

So I called VZW tech support and spoke to 2 people and both gave the bs that this is the first time they are hearing this issue and they have the TB and its working for them. I said do the update then tell me if it works! This is a massive and unacceptable oversight by both HTC and VZW.

Already today I missed a vm for work about a conference call. It's a good thing I was in the office and already knew about it.

We need to stand up to VZW about this issue and not accept the usual "we are working on a fix for it" excuse from VZW

I love that they say it works.

Pity you can't make them bet with their job on the line.

My voicemail notification appears to be broken since the update. This will become a problem if they don't fix this quickly. Might have to go to Google Voice in the interim.

You should go to google voice for the long term.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Google voice is not a real fix since it usually reverts back to carrier vm after a reboot. This is total bullsh*t .

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

I have a notification of a missed call but I DO NOT get notification of Voice Mail when one is left for me.

This used to work and now it doesn't.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Ok just got off with tech support again and the rep next to the rep I was speaking to just did the update on his phone and guess what? No vm notifications!

I went nuts on them and told them the nonstop issues with this phone are unacceptable. The gave me visual voicemail onto my accout for free.

I suggest everyone call and give them Hell over this.

Adrynaline glad you are here. Any idea why I cannot set up vvm on BAMF 2.4.1. Get an error that my phone comes with vvm features and to uninstall the app I just downloaded.

Yes. PM me and I'll help you. If you have Root Explorer, it will be easiest.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Completely stock. GB Update completed a little after 11:00 a.m. Eastern time. Tested stock VM twice, got the "missed call" notification but not the Voicemail notification. It worked properly before the update. I'll be on the phone with VZW shortly.

Update: Just spent 20 minutes going though Customer Service then transferred to Technical Support; they had me try a battery pull, which I had already done myself, but I went along with it. Both the CSR and the TSR left me voice mails - got the missed call notification, the also sent texts, and I got those notifications, but no VM. The TSR then looked on-line and saw that it's a very commonly reported problem since the GB update and she would call me back and let me know when it's resolved, probably through another OTA. .

I tweeted HTC and VZW Support about it. No response from VZW yet, but HTC responded and seemed surprised to hear about it, and said they would pass along the report. Hopefully this is not actually news to them, how could that bug possibly go unnoticed? lol

Give them Hell. We need to not allow VZW to bend us over again with this phone like they have been doing since March.

I'd trust adrynalyne to fix voicemail notifications before I'd trust Verizon or HTC. Google Voice is the way to go.

I got an acknowledgement from VZWSupport on Twitter that they are aware of the issue and no ETA on a fix. I also called Verizon Customer Support and got past the Tier 1 support to someone that could open a support ticket. He mentioned that he did not see other reports of this issue as yet, but did open a ticket after having me try a few things. He indicated that he would followup with me in 3 days to see if the issue had been resolved. He also added Visual Voicemail to my account for free until this problem is taken care of. Overall, a very good customer service experience. I'm not holding my breath that they will get this resolved in 3 days, but I can live with free Visual Voicemail for now.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Does Voicemail Notifications Work?

I'm guessing it will be months until VZW fixes this issue, if ever since all of the leaks that came out had this problem and they still didn't fix it. So, what's a good vm alternative? I'm not really wanting to use Google Voice because I don't need another phone number.
I've heard, haven't verified it, that if you place the VZW native VM Widget on your screen (actually it is on your screen by default right out of the box) that it will alert you in the form of a little number inside the icon, like 1, 2, 3, etc. Like the email icon. Can anyone confirm this? I've never checked :)

Just tried this and while I did not get a number by the icon if you click the icon and go into the app it will tell you if you have a voice mail or not. Sucks as it's an extra step but it can do for now if people dont want to use Google Voice, YouMail, etc.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

VZW should give us free visual vm til they fix it!! (one can only wish :p lol)

I found an article about doing *71[Google Voice #] AND *90[Google Voice #] AND *92[Google Voice #] would forward my verizon voicemails to my Google Voicemail. I have tried that 3 times and it doesn't work.. just keeps looping over and over.

Anyone know how to fix this?
