I was adamant and made her SAY yes it was tbolt and yes he updated at 3 a.m. there was no misunderstanding. I even told her I didn't believe it and went through each criterion a second time.

That's not the point. I don't like being blatantly lied to.

They may have just been REALLY dumb and thought they got a voicemail. Which is scary and almost as bad as lying.

I guess the first few early adopters who call in will be ignored or blown-off. But when all of the Joe Averages start calling in about this issue ("What the hell did your stupid update to do my voicemail indicator?") we'll see some action. Maybe another month before they admit it. Two months after that before they fix it.

Not to be too negative... I do like the GB update, overall. Pretty nice.

If every member here called they'd have to admit it sooner! HTC and VZW reps both claimed they never even heard of the problem. The HTC rep didn't even have a gb phone! She was trying to take me to settings that are.in different places now! I kept trying to explain it and she just kept trying to cnvince me it was verizons app so it had nothing to do with htc....and am I happy with my htc product and customer service? I'm proud I refrained from swearing.

They also may have been looking at the missed call indicator. Yeah, I know, dumb. Or, she probably doesn't know she as Visual VM on an employee plan.

One more posiblity might exist. Maybe VZW has decided that a notification is now a "premium voicemail service" (i.e. Visual VM).

But why lie about it? I find it insulting. Believe me I was pedantic in my criteria to test.

It would be preferable to be told it is a paid service than lied to. I specifically asked her to check with him (he was in the room) that it wasn't just a missed call indicator.

I too am happy overall. This is really a separate issue so I'll drop it.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

I'm on with Verizon tech support right now.
Verizon: "that's a wierd one", "did you try a factory reset"

Lovely.

Lovely.

Over an hour later and Verizon has transferred the call to HTC.
after several battery pulls, and checking all kinds of settings,
the lovely tech is going to "see what she can find out"

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

neither mine or my wife's voice mail notification works.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Just talked to tier 2, they are aware of the problem and gave me visual voice for free. HTC is also aware of the problem. Monday they are going to call me back with what they find out(rolls eyes). We will see, but at least with vvm I get notifications now.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Ok, maybe I am ******ed, I did what the article listed here said to do, *71(GV #) and the other 2. Changed the service on my phone. Seemed to work. So I called my phone to test it. When it stops ringing it says, "Please enter the phone # you are trying to call, followed by the # sign." Huh? It doesn't even give me the option to leave a vm. ??? Any thoughts? Thanks

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Just updated tonight via the OTA (previously had flashed the official MR2 RUU, so that path does put you on the official track for future OTA's). Now the voicemail notification no longer works. I verified the voicemail settings are the same as before. Even tried a battery pull, but still doesn't work. As a work around, you can go into the Voicemail app and see whether it says you have a message and how many (lists the number). It's a bit of a pain as it's extra steps, but you'd normally only do it when you see a missed call notification. Still, can't believe they dropped the ball on this basic functionality!! :(

How long do you get free vvm?

If HTC calls would you ask them to normalize screen sensitivity while charging?

VM notifications not working after update.... Did factory reset too. Ugh.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

spoke to a tier 2 at verizon, very polite, very nice. ran the usual tests, sent me a few voicemails. opened up a ticket and gave me and my wife free visual voicemail until it gets resolved.

i am very happy with the service

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

I also had the voice mail notification stop working after the OTA update on my TB and my wife's TB. As Synycalwon said, I could go into the voicemail app or the message app and see that a voice mail message had been left. However, that's not the way it's supposed to work and I shouldn't have to keep checking it throughout the day. I'm suppsed to see the notification in the notification bar, so that's what I expect.

I called Verizon and got to Tier 2 in rather short order. The bottom line is that they didn't have a resolution at this time. The tech that I spoke with was very nice and did everything that was in her current abilities, but there was nothing she could offer to resove the missing notification with standard voice mail.

She did give me Visual Voice Mail free for one month on both of the TBs in our house. Once she activated it and left a test voice mail on the second TB, the notification icon on the top bar showed up and the message was listed in the VVM list. So, I expect that unless all the planets are aligned with the center of the galaxy for those people who say they're getting the notificaiton icon with standard voice mail, they're actually mistaken in some way. Either they really have VVM or there's some confusion about what notification icon is being discussed.

The bottom line is that I really don't want to pay for VVM when I didn't want it to begin with. I don't have a need for it under normal circumstances. Right now it's a work around for the new problem, but once the month is up, I'll be calling back to get another month for free if the problem hasn't been fixed.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

I spent 1-1/2 hours on the phone with CS regarding this issue. It took that long to run the test since you have to wait 10 minutes after you subscribe to VVM before it is active, and you have to wait 1/2 hour after you cancel it before it is removed. The tech wanted to test both ways.

He wound up giving me a $2.99 credit to be applied on my NEXT cycle. And, he said if they don't fix the issue I'd have to call back each month.

Hmm, not bad... now I got a 1-1/2 hour part time job once a month to make $2.99. What a deal!
