Google voice is not a real fix since it usually reverts back to carrier vm after a reboot. This is total bullsh*t .

This statement is simply incorrect....don't really know what else to say about it...

Stock... no std VZW VM notifications on the status bar.

However, in the stock message app (hit the VM icon at the bottom) it does show that I have VMs, and taping the notice takes me to VM.

I've heard, haven't verified it, that if you place the VZW native VM Widget on your screen (actually it is on your screen by default right out of the box) that it will alert you in the form of a little number inside the icon, like 1, 2, 3, etc. Like the email icon. Can anyone confirm this? I've never checked

Even though I have a Google Voice account, I downloaded the free version of YouMail once I realized the native vm notifications were broken after the update. YouMail is working like a champ so that's another alternative for people to use until HTC\Verizon figures this out.

This has been a problem in every gingerbread leak that was released. Its amazing this wasn't caught in testing because its been a well known bug in the rooted community for a long time now.

I am not rooted & also never had any problems with VM notifications, I always get then.. Upgraded to GB this morning then I missed a call from my brother, I called him back & he said, did you get my message?. I just thought to myself.. You have got to be ****ting me.. My VM notification does NOT work now..

I spoke too soon. I got the VM notice ok but after deleting the VM I can't get rid of the notice that I have new VM......Go figure.

Yep, thats part of the problem....once you check it, you have to reboot to get rid of it.

Bamf just released a patch that fixes vm for their roms. Running bamf forever 06 and sure enough, after flashing the patch, voicemail notification works beautifully.

Team bamf rocks.

Yes, it does. Yet another "fix" us non-rooters will have to wait for but bamf rooters have right now. It's good to know that it can be done!

It realy confuses me how VZW could let this pass. Whatever.

If I used VM a lot, i'd do like a few others and complain to VZW and get visual voice mail for free. I don't get many voicemails so I don't care to be on the phone for an hour to get it.

Teambamf has fixed the voicemail notification issue with the thunderbolt gingerbread.

They have step by step instructions how to root and install custom roms. They made it super easy, even for an idiot like me. They release fixes and patches all the time that are also simple to install and they are very very helpful with any questions you have. Blows crappy HTC and verizon support out of the water.

To be clear, this also works for rooted, deodexed 2.11.x roms. I cannot vouch for Gingeritis, or Synergy roms.

I called vzw today and tech support not only denied the issue my rep swore she just did a vm to a fellow worker withtbolt and gb installed who doesn't have vvm and. He DID. Get the vm notification. I asked.if she was sure it wasn't just a missed call notifier but she swore it was the vm notifier. LIARS
We got htc on conference call and htc called vm a vzw third party app so its up to vzw to fix it. Vzw rep said htc must fix it. Could be a long wait....

She didn't probably realize that to adaquately test it she would have send a VM to a Thunderbolt/GB friend, not just a GB friend or a TB friend.
