Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

I spent 1-1/2 hours on the phone with CS regarding this issue. It took that long to run the test since you have to wait 10 minutes after you subscribe to VVM before it is active, and you have to wait 1/2 hour after you cancel it before it is removed. The tech wanted to test both ways.

He wound up giving me a $2.99 credit to be applied on my NEXT cycle. And, he said if they don't fix the issue I'd have to call back each month.

Hmm, not bad... now I got a 1-1/2 hour part time job once a month to make $2.99. What a deal!

wtf, my visual voicemail worked 30 seconds after he activated it

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

I wish vzw offered me visual voicemail. I was on the phone for about 45 min working a majority of that with tier two. For some reason my voicemail notification kept turning itself off in my voicemail settings, all after she turned it right back on....anyway all she offered me was 150 minutes since I will have to call all the time to check my voicemail.

It can turn on that fast if you're lucky. Warning said wait 10 minutes. Mine was already on when I called. So we had to turn it off, test, then back on, test. Turning it off did take the full 30 minutes before it was off, as advertised.

What a way to make two dollars and 99 cents!

1. Decompile framework.jar...<snip steps 2-11>
Could you please give me step by step instructions for completing step number 1? After that, I'll get back to you for steps 2-11.

Sure glad this is an easy fix.

No, I have issues now that I never had before with my Voicemail Notifications...

I NEVER had any problems with Vz notifications since the fast the TB came out.. now I have no Vz Vm notification.. But still very happy with GB do far.

This is for Rooted users correct? I am not rooted so do I just deal with it? Honestly I don't care that much about the notification.. If its that important they will call back..

My VZW VM Notification has been working fine after the OTA.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

My VZW VM Notification has been working fine after the OTA.
That's because you have Visual Voicemail (the one that provides a list of voicemails on your screen). People here already know VVM notifications work. They are discussing the STOCK (VZW/HTC) voicemail notification -- which was totally broken by GB (doesn't show at all, ever). This is the VM plan that prolly 98 percent of VZW customers have.

It looks like this:

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Hello everyone,

As of yesterday, I answered the poll with "no my stock vzw voicemail notification does not work", and well now. I am not sure.

I had a call yesterday afternoon, and they left a voicemail and I didn't see the icon, but I saw missed call, so I called them back, they told me they left me a message. Hmmm. Right before bed, no voicemail icon, turned phone off to charge. This morning, turn phone on and BLEEP I get a voicemail notification.

Cool I thought except my phone was on silent and it still beeped. :p Listened to message, deleted message, and my phone would continue to notify me I had voicemail for another couple of hours. Then I did a reboot, and voicemail notification went away.

So, it's not completely broken, but if it's going to act like this, I'd just assume it BE completely broken because it is worthless. Also, call volume default is like speakerphone? What is up with that?

Just my 2?

The symptoms of the problem are that the voicemail indicator only updates when the phone is restarted (in other words, you won't get your voicemail notification until you restart your phone, and the notification will only clear when you restart your phone again).

So yours is "broken". Welcome to the club. ;)

This tweet originally came about half hour ago.

@VZWSupport@xoomdev The software update for the Thunderbolt has been delayed due to the voicemail notification error. A fix will be available soon. ^CM

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

Running stock vm - called myself yesterday afternoon and left a vc msg. I got the missed call indicator icon at the top of the screen immediately, but did not get any kind of notification there was a vce msg until I turned on my phone this morning. I listned to the message, and 'deleted' the message from the recorded menu of options at the end, but the message waiting indicator remains at the top of the screen- there IS a nice new feature as well, when I wake up the phone after being idle, and before I unlock it, there is also a message at the bottom of the screen saying 'New voicemail (1) Dial *86 (5:15 AM) - thats the time I turned on the phone this morning, not when the message was left. The vce msg icon can only be removed by rebooting.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

I am running stock vc msg application - no visual voice, google, or anything else. I DID get the icon you show, but not until probably 20hrs or so after the message was left, and then after listening to and deleting the message, the icon remained at the top of my screen until I rebooted. Maybe I'll go to VVM temporarily until they fix this glitch.

Re: New Gingerbread OTA - Do Stock VZW Voicemail Notifications Wo

The quickest temporary work around at this point appears to be to put your TB in airplane mode and then take it right out of airplane mode. This on and off toggle process only takes about 10 to 15 seconds, and the delayed VM (and other) notifications then appear immediately. You can run through this routine anytime you receive a missed call notification (those do still come through normally) to check whether the caller left a VM. Of course, turning the TB completely off and back on also works, but that approach obviously takes much longer. :D
