Not that I've been obsessively refreshing my tracking info all morning, but as of a few minutes ago my 16GB N4 is showing "In Transit" from Louisville, KY.

I just spoke with the Google Play Support and apparently after reading through the notes and checking on what tier 3 reported back, the shipper is being investigated to determine why the units are not shipping out.

The agent I spoke with said that she had never seen a message like that before and really had no idea what that meant other than the obvious that some sort investigation into the shipper is occurring.

She went on to explain that the first escalation is more like a consultation with the shipping specialist and once they come back with an answer and it is not of any use (or the customer calls back I guess) it is than escalated again this time requesting further action.

Agreed. I never ordered the Nexus 7, so I never experienced the fiasco there, I would have assumed Google would have learned some lessons there and make the launch and shipping of the Nexus 4 better. Really surprised how that didn't happen.

I would guess they did not want to change their entire system midstream in the release of the Nexus series, which might be what is required to fix it. We know for certain 3 things suck: 1) inept shopping cart engine 2) UPS shipping via some weird bulk distributing plan that lacks tracking info. 3) some idiot's decision to create 2 day shipping labels before delivering product to UPS - may be related to #2

They probably are stuck with UPS due to some sort of contract signed for the year. As far as the shopping cart goes, one would think that is easy to fix, but they have a monster app store connected with it all - probably not an overnight fix either.

The paradigm shift from Apple to Google is significant; in fact, one could say there is little similarity between the two companies in terms of vision, mission, etc. What is clear, at least at this point is, Google is definitely not adopting Apple's usually good customer service experience. It is odd that a company, such as Google, which espouses so much openness and freedom are so opaque when it comes to customer service.

I don't think it's exactly their customer service, as their reps are actually really nice. I think it's them just not being prepared enough for a larger supply chain model of actually moving out electronics. They just don't know how to do that yet.

2. The amount of personal info UPS has about me is freaky. UPS asks for full name, address, email, phone, and birthday. UPS knew my 2 past street addresses, the model of my old car and a specific address it was registered to, and full name of my ex-roommate.

How did you find out what info they had on you?

Just checked the Round 2 thread on xda...looks like some folks with the 1-2 weeks estimate got their tracking updated so there's actually info now. Here's hoping more people will get theirs updated. :fingerscrossed:

Do you recall how many days it took from your shipped confirmation to reach you?

If i remember correctly Google generated the shipping email but UPS never updated the tracking information until it actually arrived. I think it took the two or three business days once i received the shipping email from Google.

I just remember being shocked that it arrived and there was never any updates on ups tracking.

Wow guys. Many people who received the 2-3 week time frame received their tracking numbers and they already have an origin scan on them from Louisville. Saw multiple screenshots over at XDA. Called Play and they said our orders (UPS shipping limboers/YBoD) should go out this week to be received this week or early next week. Wtf. Google needs to get their crap together.

Just like another post for the nexus 7, I was able to find my tracking number for it and had the exact same shipping issue. The label was created 7/11 and delivered 7/17 without any updates between those.

Same here. I also noticed that the shipping email was not sent out right away, but on 7/14 @ 2:30am PST (Friday night/Saturday morning). So while it arrived 6 days after the label was printed, it was only 2 business days after the email was sent out.

So I guess the whole printing out shipping labels early is standard practice for them. They just goofed this time around and didn't wait before charging our cards and sending out the emails.

Got shipping info this morning. I had the 2-3 week shipping statement. If shipped today, I assume I will receive it On Friday but most lightly, Monday

So curiosity got the best of me, and while I am here having lunch I decided to call Google for an update.

Basically, the rep stated that the shipping notice was "possibly" sent out too soon and it could have been an error (in not so many words). He said he cannot confirm if an error was made or not but he did confirm that I did receive a shipping confirmation without UPS actually having the device in hand yet. He says that as soon as UPS has my device, they will scan it for the first time and the tracking will be updated in their system.

He said that I need to rely on the original 1-2 week estimate and that I am guaranteed to have it before 12/11/12 which would fall in line with the original 1-2 week estimate.

Guess I will have to just sit back and wait a bit more :)

In their defense, Google has only recently become a hardware seller. Apple has been doing it for a very long time. Google gets a slight pass from me right now, and I would assume they have the issues sorted out after the holidays and sometime next year.

You may find me in your company, amigo.

Which would be fine with me if they hadn't charged my credit card on 11/30.
