But... But... If its on the internet it must be true!

An email I have says I am related to you..
The bend test was not a true test because the heat from the lighter warmed up the glue that holds the screen in place and the glass was already cracked. However I was not impressed at how easily the screen did in fact crack, the person who did the video did a simple scratch test it should not have made the screen crack the way it did.
It was not a simple scratch test. Basically, Gorilla Glass 4 has a hardness on the Mohs scale of about 6.8; this is roughly the same hardness as and (sand is not a 9, as he claimed, but is primarily silicon -- the same thing the screen is made of). So, the phone performed on the test about how you would expect, it resisted scratches up until 6 but, starting with 7, the tool was able to scratch the glass -- the tool was harder than the phone is rated for. Additionally, you could tell he was pressing hard and the tool had a relatively sharp point -- which makes it more likely to scratch.
Now, he should have stopped at 7 -- again, the GG4 is rated at 6.8 and using the tool rated 7 proved that. The problem is, he still went on with the harder tools. Again, using a tool that is much harder than the glass is rated, with a sharp point, it starts becoming very likely that the tool will crack the screen.
How is he jumping ahead of everyone waiting for their phone? Then he just destroys it there are some upset customers out there wondering if that could have been their phone.
With all due respect, I've put my smart phones (various Blackberries, iPhones, Samsungs and LGs) in my back pocket for the past 8 years or so, and have never had "bad things happen". I do not make a habit of sitting on them, but it has happened on occasion when I forgot the phone was there, and have never had a bending problem.
That said, I take this video with something of a grain of salt and already plan to try and be extra cautious with this phone due to its size (especially its length), but I still hope it's not going to bend just because I carry it in my back pocket.
