Re: Back Camera Glass Cracking

This is exactly why I only bought cases that had coverage over (most of) the back glass.

Re: Back Camera Glass Cracking

I freaked out because I heard the thud and immediately knew it was my phones.

Re: Should I return my Nexus 6P? (Paint scraping off)

Is there a photo? I didn't see one. It's disturbing to hear that this is happening so soon. I have noticed quite a bit of wear on iPhones in the wild (handsets without a case). The scratches and wear are more obvious on the black iPhone. So I expect to see this type of wear on the finish eventually.

Re: Back Camera Glass Cracking

Hi Ev1,

This thread has me worried... I have no problems with my rear glass.. But.. My front glass just outside of the speaker areas is showing a bent reflection... Meaning the glass is not perfectly flat... Something convex or concave is going on... The glass has to be under stress.. What do you all think ?? The rest of the front glass is perfectly flat except for these 2 areas... Thanx .. and great forum..

Re: Should I return my Nexus 6P? (Paint scraping off)

black is one of the hardest colors to anodize. the paint will continue to scrape off. just a fact of life. geta case or place it on a mat at all times.

Re: Back Camera Glass Cracking

I'm not worried. Thinking of buying an insurance plan from Worth Ave. Anyone use them? Cheap plan, 59.00 for one year and 50 deductible. Only keeps phones about a year anyway.

Re: Back Camera Glass Cracking

This has me concerned especially since my phone is arriving Monday

Funny but true.

My 6S Plus was also in my pocket and landed on it's face. Only my Glass Invisible Shield is cracked.
Same thing happened to me with my Nexus 6. I had a case on it and glass screen protector. After 1 too many drinks, I dropped it on concrete. Only the glass screen protector was damaged. Bought another one, and things are back to normal.

Almost everyone's phone at work is severely damaged with major dings and cracked screens. I guess people would rather be "cool" and go naked, and damage their phone, than protect it. Not me, I work hard for what little money I make. Even if you have insurance, there's usually a sizeable deductible. I'll never understand why people don't take better care of their stuff.

I'm really curious how the Frost will hold up. I'd also be interested in hearing, from those who have played with both a Frost and another color 6P, if there is a difference in the feel of the Frost compared to the other colors.

Things like this vary on the person though. Sounds like your co-workers don't care as much as some of us do for devices. Accidents can happen sure -- For anyone, anywhere, but to just instantly say if you don't have a case you're going to get major dings / cracks is not really true. Depends on how the person is with the device :)... As you said it depends on how they take care of it.

Re: Should I return my Nexus 6P? (Paint scraping off)

It's painted metal . a LA iPhone 5 in black! That thing chipped when you breathed on it. It's why Apple makes the 6s so light now compared to how dark that space gray was on the 5.

Honestly I would say complain and go with the aluminum .

Yes my old iPhone space grey looked terrible along the edges with chipped paint. That's why I went for aluminum this time.

Is the 6P really as fragile as they say on TWiT and CNET? (able to be broken with just one hand?)

Is the 6P really as fragile as they say on TWiT and CNET? (able to be broken with just one hand?)

I know I will definitely be buying a 6P because I want to do things that I can't do on my Note 5 and LG G4.

However, a fragile phone does make me nervous. Obviously I'm not going to deliberately try to damage the phone, but what if I put it in my pants pocket like I do with all my other phones? Is it more prone to being cracked or bent? Does Google sell some kind of extended warranty that covers damages? (don't really want to go with SquareTrade again this time)

Thanks!

Re: Should I return my Nexus 6P? (Paint scraping off)

The OP said he treated the phone with great care and the paint still off... if the paint it not that fragile, I would not put a TPU case on it. It's possible that the TPU case will rip some paint off during removal I've had that happen on the old Galaxy Nexus.

Re: Is the 6P really as fragile as they say on TWiT and CNET? (able to be broken with just one hand?

lol, nope. just stupid people doing stupid things to expensive things in order to get clicks/views. And yes, Google does offer "Nexus Protect".

Re: Is the 6P really as fragile as they say on TWiT and CNET? (able to be broken with just one hand?

Highly recommend Nexus Protect if you are concerned. The Nexus 6P feels pretty solid and performs really well.

Re: Is the 6P really as fragile as they say on TWiT and CNET? (able to be broken with just one hand?

TWiT never said it was fragile, they said some jerk was intentionally destroying the phone for click-bate. I have one, and it is solid. If you put it in your back pocket and sit on it - well....

I'm referring to the one from China where a petite Chinese girl was handed a P6. She used just one hand and bent it.(by pushing it against the desk) She then tried the 5X and was not able to bend it at all, even with two hands.
