Oh, good! Now burn-in might be a problem?

And I have a pixel 2 XL, and I have no problems. See it goes both ways?
I have no idea what would even make the lines on the Note 8 easy to hide the nav bar. That said any screen that gets burn in after a week or two LG or Samsung is a defective screen. I have a hard time believing all LG or Samsung screens are going to have burn in after a week or two.

It is normal if you stay on chrome for 10 mins you will see burn in or you go to Samsung shop at Best buy or AT&T you will see burn in on the screen because the phone run on same screen all the time. Samsung know it LG know it they make option to hide nav bar (see always on display on Samsung phone that the nav bar is moving) I wish google know it and let we have option to hide nav bar in certain app. It is not Google fault but you have to learn how to use the phone with OLED screen. I have V30 and I set my phone to hide nav bar on chrome , facebook, twitter or any app that I look or read for long time.

Again if you pixel already burn in just return it and get the new one before to late.

Users should not need to have to adjust their behavior / usage like this. I want to enjoy my phone on whatever app I like for however long I like.

This issue now has me actually worried for the first time about my 2 XL purchase. Unlike the previous display concerns, this one has hit home with me and I am actually debating cancelling my order and either waiting a while or going another direction (Note 8 maybe). Sigh..

I realize we do not know if this issue is widespread or not, if it is IR vs burn in, or if I will even have a use case where this issue would (a) show at all for me and (b) have it bother me. Still, I am now legitimately worried.

I have the burn in issue. I've only had my new pixel 2 XL for 5 days and it's already showing up. I'm not sure whether to call warranty replacement yet, or wait a little bit until maybe they fix this issue with a new hardware run? I'm not sure what to do

I know that you'll never get any real information from Customer services, but I thought I'd have a little chat for the sake of it. Here's the highlights...

While, we're aware of some reports with the Pixel XL 2 screen, but please be assured that at no point you will have a feeling of being sent a defective product.

Have Google taken any steps to improve the quality control then?

Yes. Our engineers are working on this issue I'm sure we'll get back with a resolution soon.

Please be rest assured, we'll give a you a brand device which will definitely meet your expectations.

Personally, I've ordered a Pixel 2 device to my sister and I'm equally excited as you to get the device on hand.

Pixel XL 2 is an awesome device, I'm sure you'll love it. I myself have gotten myself the Pixel XL 2, because of the bezeless experience.

And I'm sure, as the screen is the most important aspect for such a high end phone, you're not going to get disappointing.

I'm sure this experience will be the best experience with any smart phones you've ever had.

Don't worry. We'll get the best device ever.

We'll be always here to help you and trust me you will not face any issues with the new device.

I never had burn-in issues with my HTC M7 and Xperias, so no one's gonna tell me here that I shouldn't freak out over this like it's a normal thing to begin with.
Reconsidering buying 2XL only over this issue.

That's because the M7 and Xperias have LCD screens, not AMOLED. So it's basically not possible for them to have burn in.

The broken English from the representative doesn't fill me with confidence.

It's possible to have burn in on LSD panels, it's just not as common.

Image retention is also possible with LCD panels.

BTW, we're still not sure which the Pixel 2 XL panels are experiencing, or how widespread the problem is.

I have had the phone for one day now. Nav buttons are burned in/retained. Either way, this is not acceptable. Phone is going back to Verizon today. Its too bad because the software is so good.

I have a feeling we're going to see a recall or significant hardware revision.

I'm so disappointed! Grrr!! Finally, a pure Android phablet with dual speakers and the works, and it has a sh*tty screen- the one thing that really matters the most in a phone!
What am I going to use my 50€ Google coupon for now?

I'm thinking the LG panels MIGHT be a bit more susceptible to burn in than Samsung ones. It is after all like their first gen mass produced ones. Samsung had rampant problems in the first and second Galaxies. It became less by the S3 (my S3 is still clean).
My note 2 had it in the notification bar at the top. So far, my note 5 does not.

Judging someone's abilities because of their command of the English language is just wrong.

It definitely doesn't instill confidence, either, especially when they're supposed to be the front-facing customer relations for a billion-dollar company. I talk to Apple, I feel like they understand me...I talk to Google or Motorola, and it's like talking to a wall that is able to spew out specific lines in broken English. Even reading that chat above, everything sounds dismissive and disingenuous.
