Pixel 3 Battery reports

Anybody else notice their device getting really warm when charging? Happened to pick mine up while charging last night and noticed the warmth all the way through the Spigen case I have on it. Not a huge concern, but was a little surprised. Something I haven’t experienced with other devices as of late.

Pixel 3, unlocked, 64gb, black

I have a P3XL and all is normal here.

My HTC 10 used to do it. I didnt notice it my XL

Question, maybe slightly off topic but I am now recalling all my time spent looking at battery stats on android. Ever since moving to iPhone 2 years ago I rarely checked my battery performance on iOS...I just didn’t find the need to. Mind you I charge my phone via CarPlay every morning for an hour (get 30%+) so I don’t feel the need to worry. I’m sitting at 34% left and not so worried I need to charge it tonight can deal on my drive.

Do you users feel the need to monitor battery usage because you need to or enthusiasts enjoy the managing aspect? Honestly I don’t want to come back to feeling I need to monitor my phone and OS, really hoping googles hw and sw are good enough to work well for a medium user like myself (I average 2-3 sot a day. My iPhone 7+ was better when I first got it, iOS updates and battery capacity decline shows Apple are also more aggressive on battery for resources.

Anyway just curious. So excited to get my pixel 3 nov 1.

I'm a current Pixel XL owner who upgraded to the Pixel 3. I am activating the new one tomorrow morning. My biggest fear is that the battery won't be sufficient. If I'm disappointed, I'll send it back for the XL. I will just have to adjust to the notch!

Welcome to the forums!

If you don't like the notch, just use the option to turn it OFF. That's what I did and now the screen looks and acts just like my old Pixel 2 XL screen. I'm quite pleased. If I ever want to try using the notch again, all it takes is changing the option back again.

After 5 days use, my battery is lasting well over 24 hours with Screen On Time between 5 and 6 hours. I'm quite pleased with the battery.

I'm coming from a Moto X4 and before that, a Moto Z Play, so I am used to great battery life. I am usually around 40% by the time I get home from work, but my first day with the Pixel 3 and I was getting the battery low notification before the end of my work day. I am still setting things up and I know that the battery optimization function has not yet learned my use, but if this does not get better then that will be on the list of reasons that I may return it.

Had about 5 1/2 hours sot first day on my XL!
Edit, now a few minutes short of 6! :D

My Pixel 3 got a lot better on the second full day. I had it charged to 98% around 10:00am yesterday and it was at 33% just before midnight. I didn't use it quite as much yesterday as I did the first day since I was still setting things up so we will see how it goes on day 3.

It's still learning.

My phone changed for at least a week.
Battery got a little better for days.
1st day it seemed to charge slower

After a week.

Battery on my new Pixel 3 has been worse than my 2XL unfortunately. I may be RMA'ing for a new one.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic? But 22 hours isn't too bad. It's a pixel 3 and not xl right? The pixel 3 has a smaller battery so it's expected not to be as good as the pixel 2 xl.
