How was your meeting guys..I see Phil amended his original post.. that should help out those who don't know what they're doing, and try to run before they walk.

ok well.. I'm still following this thread/site hoping for news that verizon announces the update soon.. I never expected it to be immediate and about 2-3 weeks from now is my cut off date for killing off my hopes of it acctually coming.

In the meantime though.. I have decided that since samsung has released the source code.. that I am not going to hold them responsible for this mess.. I will buy samsung hardware in the future.. I am blaming Verizon for all of this.

Prior to them releasing the source code, I told myself no more samsung phones.. and I was upset with verizon.. now i've sorta switched my anger more torwards verizon then samsung..

I havent been simmering over this really.. been using the phone perfectly fine since day one.. just out of principle I wasnt going to purchase another samsung product because I don't support companies that dont support their products.. it appears as though they are trying atleast

For what it's worth...
I just got a "like new" fascinate to replace my crapped out version from the weekend. I had to call in to Verizon to activate the phone. I casually asked the rep helping me what my software version was. She said she would look it up. Her response was an unsteady "ED01" as if she wasn't sure if she was reading it right. She then was amazed by the "amount of items this release fixed from the previous release". I asked her if this was on my new phone (i knew it wasn't, as i was looking at the about screen). She said that it was released on the 14th, and that i should be able to load it through the software app on the phone. I have since tried, and the phone is not connecting to the server.
So anyway, this verizon person WAS reading me the list of fixes, butchering the word "Fro-yo?" and the other tasty morsels that ED01 is "Supposed" to have on board.
So there. Unconfirmed, but it happened to me, just an hour ago.
Go on about your lives...

What's funny to me is that the rep had almost no clue about what was going on. I'm willing to bet you got connected with someone from a call center that contracted with Verizon. The interesting part is that the info sheet she was given said the OTA was already out. I've never seen even a small release go unannounced. Wonder if it was on old sheet that never got replaced...

So I recently emailed the same Verizon support agent that gave me the 60 dollar credit for froyo not being on the fascinate as promised by october.

this is the email unedited:

Hi,
Recently, Samsung released the source code for the froyo update for the
fascinate on their website, in the past this happened approx 1-2weeks ahead
of the other carriers having an OTA update of froyo. Hopefully this is the
case again, do you have any information on this situation?
thanks!

So i got a response from him this morning (edited my name and his phone # etc out of it):

Good Morning Mr. ,

Thank you for reaching back out to me. From the looks of what we received this week, it does appear that and update that's slated to come to the Fascinate. The information doesn't state that it will include Froyo but it states that the update will allow the phone to "support" Froyo. so I am just confused now.. we are getting an update but its not froyo? or is this the old update we got a few months ago?

I trust the devs around here more than a support agent. They have looked AT the code Sammy released and say it is Froyo, that is good enough for me.

Now whether or not that is the code that VZW actually puts out with this update is another story that won't be answered until they put it out there.

In theory, the two should be the same, but my experience though the years says you never know with VZW

Hm... Seems fishy to me. Too many typos to be an "official" list that was copy/pasted, and it doesn't make sense that there would be another maintenance release without froyo.

Edit: Plus, the camera firmware update didn't occur until the leaked DL30, which is froyo. So why would they address that in the change log if it was never part of an official release?

its straight from verizon...

my guess is the update is going to include froyo.. you guys do realize that all support agents arent experts right?

edit:also remember... this guy has already given me 60 dollars because i told him verizon told me the update was coming in october.. he pretty much says an update is coming but doesnt promise froyo.. most likely because ive already been let down once he doesnt want to even stick his neck out persay

In Philly's post is said "Updated to support the Google Froyo 2.2 software "
If this is not Froyo, then why list it.

The source didn't turn out to be much more than what we already had, so no major developments are expected to come from it unfortunately

Waiting for next SC or a way to debing it at least. Then I will update or flash a new Rom when it arrives.
