I'll bet we will have to wait until HTC unlocks the EVO. There's no telling when that will be since they didn't mention it specifically. I'm due for an upgrade, but I just paid 400 for my EVO in march on EBay..... I really don't wanna spend 500 on a 3d or Nexus S.... Ok still happy with my 4g....... Well, I was until I got this unrooted replacement.......

I'm looking to root my EVO 4G. I'll be honest, I'm tired of searching through threads and then when I do find a thread IT HAS OVER 15 PAGES! I don't have the time to sit there n read each post, can someone plz point to a helpful article. Kinda frustrating, actually lol thanks.

Root is not possible yet if you want to know why read the thread like everyone else

Haha I saw that earlier on thread but kept looking to see if there was an update indicating there had been a breakthrough. thanks, mate.

Judging from twitter, they're getting close. Frustrating to wait, but they're working on it and that's good enough for me.

Note to Lestah: when root is achieved, believe me you'll know about it. You won't have to wade through a 15 page thread to learn that. :p

This is great news. My current Evo has a sketchy connection when charging. Sometimes it won't charge if the cable(s) not in just right. I don't want to get it replaced until I can root though.

As long as it still charges, your charging port is still connected to the motherboard. Take it to a repair center and they should be able to fix it for you. They won't care that you're rooted.

If you wait, you run the risk of your charging port becoming completely detached from the motherboard, in which case, a repair center can't/won't fix it, and then you have to deal with the headache of getting a replacement.

I like this Evo but not being able to root is killing me. I am about ready to sell it and go back to a Epic 4G!
