Question Pop-up Saying Your Account Has Been Hacked

I would agree that it's highly suspicious for completely blank apps to be showing up in the Apps list. Can you show the info when you tap on them?

I think it's probably the best idea to uninstall them and see what happens afterwards.

I have been waiting and watching to make sure nothing would pop up today.

So far, everything stopped. No warnings, no notifications.

Maybe deleting the two apps with no info and no logo was the source. Both had similar internal available info.

Thank you for sharing your ideas 💡

Great, let us know if it comes back. If it does, look through your app list to see it those apps came back.

I didn't do the factory reset. I first tried to delete to delete the two mystery apps at the very end of the apps list.

They had no name, no icon or logo and no real identifying descriptions.

And, no new notifications or warnings have showed up. I really don't have any idea where they came from. They must have been piggybacked upon something else

A while back, I was was just doing some cleanup of apps I didn't use it need and found a game I never heard of, not played, not had any interest in. I am not for sure what the source was for that. I can't prove it, but feel like it was bundled to something else. In the past, and I can't be specific, but some things would try to add Norton or another thing... UNLESS you unchecked a box that was clicked, to accept it too.

That sounds like Verizon's App Manager, or T-Mobile's AppSelector (not sure about AT&T, but they probably have something similar). Very sneaky carrier shenanigans, which is another reason I prefer buying phones completely unlocked and carrier-agnostic.

I never heard about buying a phone like that. Completely unaware. Can I still pick my carrier?

Tell me where I can read and get an education on this.
Thank you

If you buy a phone directly from a manufacturer (like Samsung or Google), it's unlocked, so you can get a SIM card from any carrier and just insert it to get it to work on their network (or you can use their eSIM). Big electronics retailers also sell unlocked phones, like Best Buy (which is where I get my Pixels).

Oh... Okay. That's where I bought this phone. They activated it on Verizon for me.

It can be tricky at Best Buy -- if you activate the phone on a carrier there, they might give you a carrier-associated model (which might come with more bloatware). In addition, some carriers can actually force certain apps to be installed as soon as they're activated on their network.

Check your Settings>Apps list, toggle on the "Show System" option, and see if there's an app called "App Manager" or "Verizon App Manager." If there is, see if you can uninstall it.

after settings, apps, I didn't have a "Show System" option. Under all apps I didn't see anything like you described. Just Moto apps Manager

The menu structure can differ between manufacturers. Go to your Settings>Apps menu that shows the list of your apps, and show us a screenshot so I can see where the option to show system apps might be.

Is this what you can tell something from?

Tap "See all 320 apps" and show a screenshot. The fact that is says 320 apps suggests to me that the menu shows all apps (including system apps) by default.
