Rather odd flash ad for Verizon's 'holiday deals'

Re: What the?

Gotta say, I saw the $199 price point and got so excited I peed a little.

Re: What the?

I just feel bad for the people who waited for the bionic. All that wait and moto screws them by releasing the razr 6 weeks later and by giving them a buggy mess...

I waited through thick and thin for that phone and when it finally came out i told myself I wouldnt just order it that night when they released it.
I told myself I'd wait until I could physically touch it and use it.
Glad I did because it was an ugly screen that practically made me nauseous, even for someone comign from a BB pearl.

Re: What the?

Why couldn't it be possible that Verizon will offer this price for this phone on 11/29 as Web Only and the device will be "in-store" come December 8th?

Couldn't it be possible? If their original plan was to do 11/21 w/o (Web Only apparently) and then in-store later down the road, could this plan have been slightly shifted to 11/29 w/o and December 8th in-store?

Also, that recent Best Buy ad that leaked would support an 11/29 release date....but...it would also support a December 8th date as well. Recall the ad had a range from 11/28 to 12/24 or something. Nonetheless, the ad comes out 11/28...mentions the "Nexus Prime" (which is probably a goof) and 11/29 the phone releases online only. You can do Verzion online orders only via Best Buy right?

$199 would be quite an amazing price. I find it a bit hard to believe, but this is indeed a legitimate Verizon Wireless Ad.

There just has to be something to this. Why advertise a phone which hasn't been released yet? I can see Verizon making a mistake here or there...but to still allow ads to come up which point to the GN and give it a price point is beyond unacceptable if the ad turns out to not support anything (as in support a 199 price, etc..)

I guess we'll have to wait 11/29.

I really don't see the point of a web only release one week, then release the phone to stores the next. I don't see any advantage to Verizon to do this? Have they done this in the past?

Re: What the?

I just called a verizon store to see if they were allowed to sell this and if it was the same price. They confirmed it s the same price and its available for preorder!!!!! She said it will be 14 days before phone is released. Call your local Verizon stores to confirm this. :)

I called my Verizon store and they only said that they just go off the website. So no pre-orders, and they don't know when its going to be available. Too bad, because I wanted to pre-order the phone today. They did say it should be soon though, less then 2 weeks. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

To be honest I'm not really sure if they have before or not. I guess....as an advantage I see it like this: Company releases on "web only" to start moving product satisfying those waiting for it, like us and other people in the know. This creates a buzz of sorts and thus gets people in-store to see the device when it actually releases in the stores. I'm not sure it's meant to get people to actually by the device more so than get them in the store. If you can get a customer in a store, then you have them trapped per say. Maybe after seeing the GN in person they will go with the RAZR or Rezound instead...or even buy some accessories or change their plan for the better.

Honestly though, it could be any number of things. I really don't have an idea what w/o would do.

Re: What the?

I'm thinking (hoping for) pre orders the 29th and actually being released the 8th but that seems like a long time for pre orders. Just being really hopeful I guess.

If Verizon made the decision to launch on the 8th late on Nov 18th it's not likely any other decisions were made. Plus this week is a wash because of the holiday. People go back to work next week. If we're lucky they'll do a pre-order on the 1st or 2nd.

Best case scenario right now is a launch on the 6th. Hopefully the 8th isn't pushed back.

Re: What the?

Not sure if others have seen this, but you can get another $25 off with a Living Social Deal. This is not good until 11/29 (maybe a coincidence with these new release date rumors) and you can only use it in the store or though Telesales (not online). Anyway, check out the deal...

Thanks for the tip! I have my last NE2, a $100 trade-in voucher and now this. So if the GNex really is $200, that gets it to me for $25 total out of pocket. w00t!

If the 200a price is true and is a special offer then according to the fine print the voucher can not be used.

I'll need some accessories. I'm digging one of the two cases that leaked and will want screen protectors, so I'll use it for that stuff. Either way...it's an additional $25 off. ;) Giggity.

Re: What the?

Looks like vzw did intend to have a black Friday release. Nice to see a price lower than expected, too. Maybe a sub-600 off-contract price

if you look at that in the url it mentions 11/29 so most likely wasn't meant for black friday.
