Received Official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OTA this morning

Waiting patiently for my turn in line to come up to receive the update. That may cause me to stick it out with this phone, because I have been getting the itch to switch to the Galaxy SIII

Thanks dude! This IS the trick. Have to swipe away the Settings app in recent apps, after clearing GF, then do a check for system update. This worked on the 1st try for me, after I had tried unsuccessfully dozens of times just clearing the framework and hitting check for updates.

Do this people!

How do you do that?

After you stop GF, and clear data. Hit Home. Then hit your recent apps key, and swipe away the Settings screen in your recent apps list. Then do a check for system update. Boom goes the dynamite.

I really hope the update rolls out to my phone soon. I am in Tampa, FL.... I imagine in the next few days, or so I hope. If not I will have to update it myself. hahah

Airplane mode on / clear GFS data / close Settings / Airplane mode off / hurry to System Updates & press check repeatedly while connection icons are still grey just worked for me.

I've been checking on and off since released, trying most of the methods herein. I think there's something to the checking just as Google Services (blue connection icons) are connecting... perhaps before they can ID the device and put you in your "proper" place in queue?

In any case, I do not believe this was a coincidence. Try it and see.

I don't see why any of the modified tricks should work ( I can kinda get that maybe not having any data exchange could help) like swiping settings etc. How did you think of it?

where is "clear GFS data" pls? Tx

You'll never guess what I had to do to get mine downloaded!!!!! I waited patiently!!! It is well worth the wait. Smooth as butter!!! Btw I'm in Ohio.

I can't help but wonder.

After we are repeatedly jumping through all of these steps....some that could cause errors in the Google Play Store ....Then the update appears.

Ya think that maybe the update appeared because it was our time to get it anyway?

I dunno I am just going to wait just like I did for the last update. Must say that I have Jellybean on my tablet so I already know it's benefits. I will just wait for it to come to my phone, then I will be happy and hopefully satisfied about it.

What problems with the Google Play store? I haven't had any.

I'm sure everyone here is well aware of this already, but do make sure your WiFi connection is blue instead of just gray when trying to update.. mine was updated from build ending in Q but judging by these posts, it doesn't seem like that plays a part in it..

Other thoughts about JB..

- Love the new start up screen
- I was surprised to see the color change behind the soft key presses but I like it.
- It is very noticeably smoother when having the phone in landscape mode and scrolling through home screens and app drawer..in this orientation in ICS it was very sluggish and laggy for me

Granted, this may be a pure coincidence, but this method seemed too work for me on the second try. I also did make sure I had mobile data off. Loving the update so far.

Hey man, I live in Tampa too and finally got it. This morning I tried it like 10 times and it never worked. I had to work in Sun City Center today and when I got to work I tried it again and it finally saw the update. The only thing was it never successfully downloaded it because the network I was on sucked so when I got back home to Tampa tonight I tried it twice on my home wifi and BAM it worked.

The above method worked for me. Put phone in airplane mode, then made sure WIFI was on. Went into settings and forced stop Google Service Frame work, after that I cleared the data and went back into settings and tried the system update and it worked. I am located just outside of Boston so it has hit the East Coast. My only question is I was rooted via the WUG method before the download is there an easy way to re-root?

Thanks
