Re: [RECOVERY] CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7-th3

Ummm what did you do? This recovery definitely did NOT cause that. I need some context here, not just error messages.

I downloaded the file in the OP. Placed it on the root of SD card.
USB debugging ON under applications/development. Fired up adb shell, got #.
Ran flash_image recovery /G/CWMRecovery_5.0.2.7-th3_thunderc.img

got these errors.

Then tried downloading the GUI optirec-sfx, ran the .exe file, entered C then G and got the same error.
Tried downloading optirec, unzipped to root of C drive, and renamed recovery file to recovery.img and placed it in copy2sd/000root folder nad ran
C:
cd\optirec
runfirst

Got the same GUI on screen. Pressed C, then H (since recovery image was in copy2sd folder.

And no, I'm not booted into recovery.

Didnt get any prompt for permissions. And I thought original path is G as my sdcard's drive is G when connected to Computer. No USB storage was not on but I thought I shud give the drive letter.
I'll try replacing it with sdcard now report back. Wondering why optirec-sfx didn't work.

Wondering why optirec-sfx didn't work.
You said it got through without errors the first time, but not the 2nd? That would be the curious part for me. If it didn't work at all that would be easier to accept than having it work without errors the first time, but not the 2nd.

Re: [RECOVERY] CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7-th3

I now think, it never worked the first time either. I just did care to look for errors since it said reboot to recovery. Overexcited me. Sorry.
Now after replacing the path/to with sdcard, i get

usage: flash_image partition file.img

Well, that is progress.

Either you have a typo in the command or the file is not where you are telling flash_image to look.

I'm curious, do you actually have "su" installed or do you depend on adb giving you the # prompt?

When you type "su" in adb shell what does it do?

I have SU installed, it never prompts me to give permission.
When I fire adb shell its # by default.

Thanks much for the patient help sfhub, you saved me yet an another time.

the file was in the right place, I just renamed it to recovery.img and ran the command again.
It worked :)

Thanks much again :D

Ditto. Congrats on the good flash!

Drew, great work! Now my phone looks 20% cooler when I boot into recovery!
Need to update though, it will be useful to not have to flash DebugFormat. Yea, I'm lazy.

Re: [RECOVERY] CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7-th3

is it posible to post the adb shell commands line for line ,that might help people try out the new recovery

Does this include thekraven's CM7.2, or does this mean ZVH-based roms only?

CM7 is Gingerbread, so what do you think? :p

Baseband version makes no difference. As long as the ROM you flash uses the newer Edify scripting it will work. ROMs using the legacy Amend scripting (Android 2.2) will fail to flash and will cause an error message to be displayed.

I realize that most of you have no idea what Edify and Amend are, but I'm not going to describe them here. Google is your friend if you are so inclined ;)

Thanks! The reason I was asking about ZVH is because that was the first (and only so far) baseband that came with Gingerbread and maybe that was the difference you were referring to... And yes, I have no idea what Edify scripting is :)

It seems like it is finally time to upgrade from Reborn to CM7 - I didn't feel like flashing a new recovery and now with the new tool and this recovery there is no reason not to!

Re: [RECOVERY] CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7-th3

I know Drew has disabled the battery stat wiping, and for good reason. However, for those of you that want to do it anyway:

fire up terminal emulator
Code:
$su
#rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
#exit
$exit

that will wipe battery stats as well.

Re: [RECOVERY] CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7-th3

I have a noob question. Can we rename our nandroid backups what ever we want and not screw something up? Or do we have to keep it the date that recovery names it? I have a hard time remembering what rom is which backup.

I have another question. I'm wanting to flash the kraven's cm7. Know I have to revert to zvd. Can I flash the update.zip twice like you can with xoinx cwma2.6--- or do I need to flash a stock recovery? I like the zvh roms, however I like using cm7 too, so I go back and forth. Thanks for your help and I really like this recovery. I don't know about any one eles but this recovery seems more responsive then xoinx---.

Never heard of Xoinx recovery, you sure you aren't running Xionia? :p

You should be fine flashing the update.zip twice with CWM Recovery.
