Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Another poster in a different thread mentioned that with the spotty 4G outages, and the fact that every Nexus is sitting on an update as soon as it's activated, may be the reason for a delay until the outages are corrected. They don't want to push out an update with the outage, and don't want to release the phone without pushing the update. Make sense?

No, no, no. VZW is delaying the release because they hate all of us. Of course that just might be a vicious rumor that I have just started. ;)

True but still got 3g to download the update. 3g isn't affect and I don't live in a 4g area yet so. I couldn't download it through 4g anyways.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm also hearing many reports of 4G phones losing ALL data during the outage. The people saying 3G isn't affected aren't accurate. There's a dev on XDA who can back this up, he's been tweeting no data for the better part of yesterday.

Which phones?

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk

Well performance wise the Galaxy Nexus is beat by iphone 4S, G Nexus II and Galaxy Note. And two of those will have ICS in Q1. And its not so much whats as good as or slightly better now, but what will be dramatically better in 3-4 months. In Q1/Q2 we will have the quad cores and 2Ghz dual cores will be coming out,. e..g. HTC Edge.

The Gnex looks great, has a great screen and will be the first official OCS, but the internals are already outdated. So for now, I will spend my money on Transformer Prime then start checking out the next gen phones in a few months. I know there will always be something better in "a few months", but now we are just at the beginning of dual core to quad core chips and greatly improved graphics. The demos with the Transformer Prime are amazing.

But if I had to get a phone now, the Galaxy Nexus would definitely be top 3.

True
Yea my buddy didn't have 3g all morning but was back up.
Verizon said 3g etc wasn't affect but obviously not correct.

So you are just trolling around here to let us know that the Galaxy Nexus is NOT the phone to get and we should buy tablets instead. Why are you posting here?

Wouldn't it blow peoples mind if Verizon announced it today that its ready for sale lol. Man that was a good dream

My two cents FWIW.

From the perspective of profits and the bottom line, I do not think they will sit on the inventory for long. Once they took the inventory from Samsung, it starts to lose value on their books. I don't have insight as to how they account for it, but from an accounting perspective they need it gone, so I don't think Beg Red will sit on it indefinitely. I think we will see something in the next couple of weeks.

it will be out by the end of next week for sure.

From an accounting perspective, they are not losing money on it. They can sit on it for multiple weeks and be fine. They lose money on it after they launch something newer/better, and can no longer justify the $300 price. That won't happen for quite awhile.

From an accounting perspective everyday they sit on the inventory is lost profit. They have to pay for it, and the longer they sit on it, the more money they have tied up in inventory that they could be selling, and turning into cash. Maybe not a lot, but the accounts tend to add up every red cent.

Yes, having taken many accounting, micro, and macro economics classes I know this to be correct. They consider it lost potential profit. The longer companies sit on something, the less time they have to maximize their profits. If they would sell the phone now instead of a week from now they could theoretically sell x-amount more. Deciding not to sell earlier means that they may not sell enough for them to justify buying another lot from Samsung and they could lose out by not doing so.

Of course that is all based on theory and you do have to take into consideration other variables such as lost revenue because of issues with the phones if they are released with major bugs, etc.

Well, screw verizon and this phone. Might as well wait until the quad cores comes out in a month or two. We already waited this long, whats another month? Look's like we'll be waiting that long anyway! Anyway you look at it, this phone's launch was a massive failure. By the time this comes out, there will be another phone right around the corner that will make it completely obsolete. I'm not talking a little bit, but by big margins. This phone would have been big had it been released around September or October, but this late in the game? Not even worth it considering whats going to be in store come January.

I'll pass and wait to get the first quad core. They're all guaranteed to be around 4.5inch and 720p + ICS anyway, which is really all the GN has going for it now.

The opportunity cost of having their money tied up in inventory for an additional 4-10 days is negligible compared to the cost of making the Rezound and Razr obsolete so soon after their releases.

As long it's out by the end of the month and we can use our Living Social coupons. :) Has anyone used one yet, on accessories or something?

Vzw news just tweeted everything is back to normal 4glte wise. So could we still see a soft launch? If the system holds up 24hours?

VZW tweeted not long ago:

Verizon Wireless 4GLTE service has returned to normal after the company’s network operations team resolved a technical issue.

Does this give us new hope for Friday?

I sure hope so but that could be gone by the wind.

Are you in the United States? If you are, I wouldn't hedge my bets that the first quad core phones will be out in "one month". CES is just under a month away...when has a phone that was shown at CES out the next week in the US? Fact of the matter is, anything you see at CES, you're going to be waiting a long time for. Quad core phones won't be out in January. March/April at the absolute earliest is a better prediction.

And the first quad core isn't guaranteed to be better than anything else. Case in point...T-Mobile G2X. First dual core phone...and it royally sucks. Had I been in this position last year with the Nexus S, if I had waited and gotten the G2X over the Nexus S, I would be PISSED. So, YMMV, but just know there's a lot things more things to factor in than you are factoring in right now, and it's a lot more complicated than, "The first quad core phone will be out in January, so I may as well wait for that"
