Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Ok, this got me thinking...I assume Verizon has some period of exclusivity. Is this going to delay the phone from dropping on other carriers? And even more disappointing , will it affect any launch of an unlocked version? Which will be sad, because that was the original point of the whole Nexus philosophy,,,right????

I was thinking, how cool would it be if some other US carrier some how finagled their way to releasing it before Verizon. I would definitely buy from the other carrier, even if that meant no LTE till 2012-2013. Unfortunately, that's most likely a fantasy.

Ok, I don't want to get anybody's hopes up, so take it with a grain of salt. Though I just created this account a few days ago, I use the same name on tons of other sites, including crackberry, wpcentral so I'm not trolling...

Anyway, we are a large customer of Verizon.. we send them a massive check every month.. We have 500+ datacards alone, which ain't cheap. The reason I say that is our corporate rep is pretty much assigned to us. He usually has good, accurate info. Having said that, I still do suprise him sometimes with info I pick up online. :)

Anyway, he JUST emailed me saying he just heard Friday is the date. Now, it could still be that a new bit of info has not trickled down to him, so don't take this as proof of anything... But it gives me hope anyway. Something to hold onto until we hear for sure.

yea, I agree. The problem is...why announce a product and have no clear timeline for a release? Just annoys ya customers and makes your company look rather inefficient....

Then again, Verizon never announced anything, did they??? So this firestorm of speculation and anxiety is the doing of Samsung and Google...

Yea im out of 4g and my 3g keeps turning on and off like ever 2 mins im on a droid charge, the crazy thing is my wife has the same set up and she has no problems.

Pics, or it didn't happen :D

They did announce it... to come out by the end of the year. Next time, they need to do it like Apple. Make sure you have your ducks in a row before you announce it.

Sprint is quietly building up their backend network. Hopefully, by the end of next year we will see some progress and Verizon can stop being dicks with their devices (or I am gone).

Highly doubt it. Sprint has all but given up on its 4G network, choosing to focus more on LTE with LightSquared. Unless AT&T undergoes an LTE miracle in the next 6 months (doubtful), Verizon is most people's best option unfortunately.

What if verizon sent out an email saying it won't be the 9th to throw people off? I mean if it is true that they are just going to throw it out there what if they say here we know we have some moles in the company so we will issue this email to get all the blogs buzzing and get even more free press? Wouldn't surprise me for vzw to do this.

So ...

If this is delayed, again, off of 12/9 - and the reason this time is supposedly the recent LTE issues - this would certainly mean that the Droid 4 and new Xyboard tablets would be delayed too (they are LTE as well), right?

If they don't get delayed, then we can write off LTE as the reason I suppose ...

very good point...

if it were an LTE issue, one would assume that every 4G phone in verizon's stock would be held back for now.

okay... so i'm back to two possibilities...

a) verizon got upset by the leaking of the release date and are doing this to get people to stop calling stores and the such but still plan on dropping it in a silent release friday morning...

b) verizon hates us all.

Please tell me you 2 are kidding about this 2 posts, cuz I'm seconds.away from gonna getting banned for life, unless your joking. Why did you have to go and post this nonsense?

i still believe we'll have this phone on friday. i'd believe they were still delaying it if not for the fact that stock has obviously been sent to stores. maybe... maybe they'll delay till monday, but that's it, if that.

that equipment webpage probably jumped the gun on putting the launch date on their site, and when they realized their mistake, they changed the date to "coming soon"

Let's all try to stay the course...if it is delayed from the 9th, I'd doubt it's a delay of more than a week. We've been in here months guys...no reason to bail now. We will have this phone in the next 8-10 days.

I agree with you. I spend some time on it. But not the whole hour. Too painful. Also can we also talk about upcoming phones in 2012 which will launch with ics inboard.

Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G on the Now Network

Or C. not all stores have GN in stock

AYFKMWTS?

This is getting ridiculous.

I realize they've never announced a date, but the deliberate lack of communication is turning this into a PR disaster as far as anyone who'll actually buy the GN is concerned (since most people who'll get the GN already know about it and are following it impatiently like us).

I was actually looking forward switching off AT&T to Verizon a few months ago, but they're managing to piss me off before I've even become a customer. So much for starting the relationship on a positive note.

At the rate they are going (or not going as the case may be) for those of us with rooted phones it won't be the only phone running ICS when it's released. I was going to see about upgrading if I can get it for 299 (I'm only 6 months into my new contract), but if someone is able to port it to my TBolt Samsung won't be selling me a new phone. I unfortunately have no programming skills or I'd do it myself.

I'm not sure if you or someone else is suggesting that Phil created this thread to somehow steal the limelight from a similar one; however, I can tell you that if I see similar thread content, one authored by Phil juxtaposed to one authored by what I consider to be a nobody, I will choose Phil's every time.

I read this whole thread and I can tell you this: It seems as if Phil IS stealing the credit and this makes both of you look like crap.

Talk about dick riding...

To make it official,

Hopefully they move forward with the rumored date of the 9th, either way I've been waiting this long, what's another couple of days.

If verizon had the stock sent to stores that means they approved it and the supposed update when you activate makes it seems like it has nothing to do with the phone not being ready and more of verizon hating this phone IMO.

Really people? All these conspiracy theories?

How does it not make the most sense that Verizon saw a bunch of devices have issues with 4G last night, they don't know why, so instead of launching the new flagship device they're going to solve the 4G issue first? After all, we see just amongst the few people on this thread that several devices are having 4G issues. That is a logical, common sense approach in my opinion.

But, then again that's just me bringing logic to an emotion fight, so....

I hope you're right, but this delay info is still very current. There is a possibility that the rep hasn't heard it yet.
