Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

okay... then explain why the DROID 4, a 4G device with verizon's beloved DROID label... which, btw, most people who aren't nerds like us think all android phones are droids, so it's a big phone... is still scheduled to be released tomorrow.

Most people don't even know about the Droid 4, whereas the Nexus has been in the press a lot. Of those who know about both phones, most are probably going to go for the Nexus.

On top of that, Verizon knows a lot of people are already waiting for the Galaxy Nexus and will be getting it.

Can you show me where the Droid 4 has been officially announced?

The LTE hiccup isn't the reason for any delay.

At this point, I recommend a little chillaxin' :p

You kind of implied the opposite of this in the OP. So now that you created havoc in this thread which has been quite entertaining, your going to tell everyone to calm down?? Come on!!!!

OK. Here's where things stand now so much as I know ...

  • The LTE hiccup isn't the reason for any delay.
  • As of right now, there is no delay because there's no official date. The Dec. 9 that started popping up on the inventory screens shouldn't have been there because there's been no official date announcement. So it's no longer there.
  • Friday is still possible. And you know what? That's not crazy since we know they're in stores. We know accessories are in stores.

At this point, I recommend a little chillaxin' :p

thank you for this update!

yeah, i was just at the verizon store last night and the employee helping me mentioned that they have about 25 units of the g-nex in the back for friday's release. he also mentioned that they are planning to open an hour early, at 9AM, for the release. so the g-nex's are sitting there, just waiting for a release announcement by Verizon and ready for activation. Also, I overheard a couple other employees mention the Galaxy Nexus to other customers being available on the 9th, as if it was official news/fact.

hopefully friday's still the day!

Imagine the how the press would have their way with Verizon if they got word that Verizon was "Ceasing the Sale of all 4G LTE devices in order to Repair their Network Difficulties."

Of course they aren't going to stop selling whats already released.

There's no bad press when you delay the release of a device that hasn't been slated for release yet.

Except if lte is down they would not be able to activate lte phones since you need the sim to activate the phone even if only using it in 3g area.

My initial thoughts when the unofficial release date was unconfirmed was that it's still going to be the 9th.

I don't think Galaxy Nexuseseses are just going to sit on the shelves at stores too long to collect dust.

fingers remain crossed.

you mean.. the same droid brand that people said over and over gets early announcements, and prefential treatment?

kinda wierd that it hasnt even been announced yet.. and its suppose to launch in less then 24 hours?

but as Phil already said, 4G isnt holding up the nexus.. it has never been given a release date and neither has the droid 4.. leaked rumors arent something you can argue with.

Here's what I heard...

My cat regularly poops in the bushes outside my local VZW store. He heard from another cat there, that knows the manager, that it was due to another OTA update that wouldn't be ready by Friday. So they have to hold it until the OTA update will be ready, and then sell it.

Now, my cat said that this other cat is feral, but he's never lied to him before.

Dude... who trusts a cat? Now if it was a dog, or maybe a chicken I would buy it. But a cat? Come on....

Just told by a Regional President that Dec 9 is in fact delayed. He told me no ETA on an updated date.

Well said Phil!

In times like these I find it helpful to look at Buddhist teachings (which are focused on reducing human suffering) - The only certainties in life are death and impermanence. Expect change and don't get attached to any particular result thus you'll never be disappointed.

It will be here soon enough, if not will get a different awesome phone - it works out for all of us in the end.

The LTE network has been up for probably a year now. The fact that a bunch of RAZR's and a few other recently released devices are having the issue (anyone reporting this problem with TB's, Charges, etc?) would lead me to believe is a device side problem.

The new rumor is that the Galaxy Nexus will be available December 9th only if you don't believe it will be available December 9th.

/sigh...
/double face palm...

Are we really freaking out about this? We've waited several weeks already, so I'm sure another week (probably less) won't be that bad. Let's not lash out at the people who bring us the info, either. Phil didn't delay the launch. He's just a guy who gets to enjoy a Nexus anyways, for which I am jealous. Incorrectly blame P3Droid; he's used to it by now.

This is like thinking you heard your girlfriend is throwing you a surprise birthday party, then waiting in anticipation all day to find out there were no plans for a surprise birthday, and you're all alone at home, and your girlfriend forgot your birthday to boot

This is us getting mad at our girlfriend, VZW, for not throwing us a surprise birthday party.

Supposedly it is more than just razr's that are having issues.

Moto is notorious for faulty firmware with less than obvious bugs...
